From the moment we were welcomed to when we were waved goodbye by manager Ewan and some of his team we were looked after and made to feel very welcome. Tucked away between two small lanes in the heritage area of Penang, these renovated chop houses are within easy walking distance of places to visit and food to eat! We stayed in one of the Stewart Lane rooms. The rooms are large and have comfy chairs as well as large four poster bed. As well as the usual tea and coffee there are complimentary soft drinks in the fridge too. Being where it is you will hear some noise from the lane outside but having the bathroom inbetween the bedroom and the lane reduces this to a minimum and it was never a problem for us. Breakfast is a la cart you can have whatever you want in any combination. We always had the Asian options and the roti was really good. The pool is a lovely cool place to escape the heat or just sit and read. Afternoon tea is served there too. One of the evenings we had a meal in the restaurant and really enjoyed it. Ewan makes a point of chatting to guests several times a day to make sure everyone is being well looked after. His knowledge of things to see and places to eat is extensive and if he doesn't know he finds it out for you straight away. I would definitely recommend you stay here but if it's out of your budget then a slightly cheaper sister hotel will be opening soon nearby. We are already trying to plan our return.

So glad we chose the Seven Terraces, a little different to our normal choice but well worth it.

Whole experience was great from the helpful staff on check in to the food at breakfast and in the restaurant in the evening.

Nice rooms as well, definitely a nice change from your normal hotel (amazing bathrooms).

Shame we only had 2 nights.....

Neil

Great hotel which makes the most of local architecture and heritage. Definitely more expensive than many other Georgetown hotels but as they say "you get what you pay for!" I would recommend it for a special occasion getaway. If this hotel is outside your price range, maybe your budget might stretch to dinner in Seven Terrace's restaurant, Kebaya - amazing surroundings and delicious food. The hotel staff were also very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast area was a quiet oasis and the included breakfast was perfect. (Be aware that as it was a new-ish hotel the taxi driver who brought us from the airport did not know of it and had trouble finding it as the entrance is in a back street. However once you have found it once - it was easy to find our way back!)

I've always enjoyed looking for and staying at boutique hotels particularly in Penang as the boutique hotels there usually reflect the old Peranakan culture. Seven Terraces was very nicely designed and decorated but what's really important as well was that the staff there were good and always on hand to help. Value wise, they priced it nicely as it was on the high end but still a little cheaper than E&O and Rasa Sayang. The morning breakfasts were lovely whilst the location a bit tough to get in if you're driving yourself. All in all, we enjoyed the room and would recommend this hotel to others.

Hard to find a boutique hotel better than this. The restoration of this property is outstanding. The rooms are huge and look over a central courtyard with the bar, restaurant, pool area, reception and breakfast area surrounding it. But it is the outstanding service from the staff that really makes this place special. Breakfast is table service (not buffet style) and you have a choice of both local and international meals. The roti is sublime. Meanwhile the room is done, so after breakfast you come back to a tidy room. Luxury. Bar and restaurant are superb, try the local cocktail called the Georgetown Cooler. Great location, close to everything. The restaurants recommended by the hotel were all excellent. A lot of thought has gone into the running of this hotel-again I have to say the service is outstanding. For example, after a particularly hot day, we were having a swim in the pool and as if by magic, two glasses of iced water appeared. A truly brilliant place

Room Tip: No bad rooms as far as I could see
