“Exquisite property with outstanding service”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

Hard to find a boutique hotel better than this. The restoration of this property is outstanding. The rooms are huge and look over a central courtyard with the bar, restaurant, pool area, reception and breakfast area surrounding it. But it is the outstanding service from the staff that really makes this place special. Breakfast is table service (not buffet style) and you have a choice of both local and international meals. The roti is sublime. Meanwhile the room is done, so after breakfast you come back to a tidy room. Luxury. Bar and restaurant are superb, try the local cocktail called the Georgetown Cooler. Great location, close to everything. The restaurants recommended by the hotel were all excellent. A lot of thought has gone into the running of this hotel-again I have to say the service is outstanding. For example, after a particularly hot day, we were having a swim in the pool and as if by magic, two glasses of iced water appeared. A truly brilliant place

Room Tip: No bad rooms as far as I could see

There's nothing negative about this hotel, we loved the location the fantastic service and the beautiful rooms:) Will certainly be back the next time I visit this hotel! Be sure to try to Nasi Lemak at the hotel's breakfast, it's gotta be one of the best around !

The hotel is stunning and well located for tourists. Service is excellent. You can book day trips through the concierge. The heritage walking tour is top-notch.

Our room was lovely although located on the busy street side of the hotel. The noise from the vehicles and from businesses on that street was excessive at times and might be intolerable for a light sleeper. If I had known in advance I would have requested a quiet location.

Loved the bar and lounge. Sweet lap pool. Great breakfast choices.

The restaurant serves delicious dinners. However one must pay for four courses. So we ate a number of meals elsewhere.

Room Tip: Request quiet side of hotel.

Great location...walking distance to everything Ideal on a short visit in the city. Restaurant in the hotel superb and pricey. Courtyard interior with decor of hotel and rooms old British colonial. Staff service outstanding. Rooms overlook courtyard...open and airy. Afternoon reception everyday from 4-5 pm. Breakfast comes with the room made to order...it is great! My room overlooked street with French doors opening to the street welcoming the city sounds. This hotel is elegant, pricey and really nice. I recommend this place without reservations.

I stayed at the Seven Terraces for 5 nights. This beautiful hotel is located in a restored Chinese shop house at the center of Georgetown. All major sights are in walking distance.

On the ground floor, located around a spatious patio, is the reception area, breakfast room and a lounge and pool area where tea is served at 4 pm. The big and comfy rooms are located around the patio on the first floor and actually expand over two storeys, with the sleeping area on the lower level. The large bathrooms are very bright and equipped with a waterfall shower.

The rooms and all other areas are perfectly clean. Breakfast is a la carte with a choice of Malaysian and European dishes. Coffee/Tea, orange juice and a plate of fresh fruit is always included. Ewan, the manager, and his staff are absolutely friendly and helpful and will happily answer all your questions about getting around in Georgetown.

Unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to go to the restaurant, which serves sophisticated Baba Nyonya cuisine. I would love to come back once to make up for that!

I can’t say enough about how much we loved this hotel. We’ve been traveling for more than nine months now, and this is one of the best two or three hotels we’ve stayed in over that time. We stayed for four nights and here are some of the highlights.

The rooms are wonderful. Huge spaces, beautiful wooden furniture, great bathrooms and showers, really delightful. The public spaces were also pretty amazing. Rarely do I want to hang out in the public spaces but they were so nicely done – lots of comfy couches and chairs, great breezes and fans. The afternoon tea was a nice touch.

The service really stands out; Ewan the General Manager has an amazing team and he has done a remarkable job at training the staff. Any time you sat down in the lounge/pool area someone was there in seconds bringing cold water and making sure the right fans were turned on. The front desk was remarkably effective in helping us figure out what we wanted to do and then in making arrangements for us.

Food was also a highlight for us. Breakfasts were great and served promptly; when we had an early boat departure on the day of checkout they arranged to have our breakfast a bit early. And the main restaurant is one of the best we’ve encountered in months – we ate there twice and loved it both nights.

Add to that a great location right in the middle of George Town and it’s just about perfect. The only mild complaint was with Internet access. The system is not password-protected which makes access very simple, of course. On the other hand it may also leave their system subject to neighbors using it, and we found the service often dog slow. It would be worth trying a protected system to see if that makes it more available to hotel guests. With that small point aside, we loved Seven Terraces. Well done and thanks for a great four days!

Our 3-night stay at Seven Terraces as part of our SE Asia Honeymoon was exceptional in many ways. The setting is beautiful to say the least. We stayed in the Stewart suite - comprised of two levels, an enormous bathroom with huge waterfall shower and extra comfy pillows. We relaxed many times in the pool area and enjoyed Podi's (barman) welcoming smile and extra special cocktails. They were better than back home and that's a big call given we're from Melbourne...and I'm always up for a cocktail. Try the pork rolls off the bar menu too - amazing! Ewan, the GM was a delight and very generous - providing us with sight seeing advice, mosquito repellant, a lovely bottle of red wine and a honeymoon gift...what a champ! The antiques filling the reception space are exquisite and all the staff are a delight...they dish out some great hawker style food finding advice. We would recommend Seven Terraces to our family and friends without any hesitation.
