“A regular stop in Pulau Tikus.”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

Good kopitiam with very fine hokkien mee since early in the morning. (Do come before 9AM). Also great Indian apom and other local delicatessen.
The boss of the place is a friendly guy who shouts like Hell when communicating (??) with the "bar" for passing your drink order.
A nice place in the Pulau Tikus neighbourhood, just in front of the local Police station. It's busy, full of local 'electrics' in the air and mainly visited by Penangites.

Yummie other eating places within a radius of 100 meters. Also visit the covered market and also the smaller evening hawker place just outside of it. Visit after 7PM.
It's only one of my numerous favourite places in Penang. (For info: we visit between 2 and 4 times a year, coming from HK, always on a foodie trip as my wife is born there and the best food guide I could wish!)
I even think about retiring there later...

“The best Indian Mee Goreng can be found here”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

This kopitiam which is located opposite the Pulau Tikus Police Station have a few good stalls.
1) One of them is the Indian Mee Goreng stall which I have patronize since small. The old man (with white hair) is still the same person cooking since I started coming to this place long time ago.
Only thing is this stall only sell I think from 11am onwards
2) Another good one is the Wan Ton Mee stall. Its finishing touch is slightly different from the rest. He will add a scoop of mushroom sauce over the noodles which in my opinion is not bad.
3) The Hokkien Mee (prawn noodle) stall is also good but only sells in the morning. Need to be there early for this.
4) Another nice one is the Assam Laksa/Siam Laksa stall. I usually go for mixed version meaning they mix the Assam soup and Siam coconut based soup for the best kick.

“Best Penang food”
Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

Not sure this is the coffee shop we went to. However it's adjacent to the market and the staff inside wore yellow t shirt which printed Food Yarn Cafe at the back.
Best food-
fried Kway kak outside the coffee shop
Chee cheong fun
Peanut pancake

If you walk across the small road to the other coffee shop at the corner, they serve very good prawn noodle soup and Penang or Siam laksa. A few shops down there's a very good fried Kway teow.

I find that the food at these few coffee shops are much much better than the others in the island.
