“charming heritage hotel with a great location”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

This heritage hotel was really a find...charming decor, a triple with plenty of room, and a fabulous location just off of Chulia street with all the wonderful street food vendors. The small bar/breakfast room is lovely as is the interior courtyard. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the noise if you have a room on the street (which we did). However, the staff was very accomodating and shuffled some people around to give us a back room the second night...and we slept like babies!

Room Tip: if you are a light sleeper, request a back room.

Very nice herritage hotel with al lot of character, located in the centre of Georgetown. We stayed 2 nights in a room at the back of the hotel which is very quiet, except in the early mornings when prayers from a nearby mosque served as our wake-up call (but I guess you'll face this issue in other hotels as well). Rooms are basic, have A/C and are very clean. Rooms at the front side are bigger but face more street noise. Hotel staff is very friendly, making our stay very pleasant (thank you Ibram). A plus is the hotel's cafe, the ideal location to have a drink or snack and to relax. Definitely recommendable!

We stayed here for two nights and I really felt sorry that I had to leave to our next destination. The cintra heritage house is a charming bed and breakfast in a more quiet side street of Chulia street (a very busy street in the center of Georgetown). The rooms are beautifully furnished and painted and have cute wooden window panels for windows. The small cafe (where breakfast is also served) is very cosy and me and my friends spent quite some time there after our ventures into the city center. The staff is extremely helpful and charming as well. The only reason why I don't give this place a five star rating is because of the potential street noise, due to only wooden panels for windows (I slept with ear plugs, so it was fine) and the shower which will make eveything wet in the small bathroom because it lacks a screen or curtian.
If i would ever return to georgetown i would stay here again!

Room Tip: I stayed in the double deluxe suite on the first floor on the front side which can be noisy because...

The photos here really don;t do this place justice. it is a beautifully restored and converted old wooden house with inner courtyard. Rooms are a great size and with lovely old furniture. Staff are really friendly and helpful and breakfast was good (essentially toast, eggs and fruit though as is so many cheap tasty options all over Georgetown, you probably don;t want to fill up on a hotel breakfast anyway). As other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms at the front do have an issue with the traffic outside - personally I found it quite bearable but imagine lighter sleepers would have a problem so perhaps ask for a room at the back if this will be an issue for you. Great location, everywhere is easily walkable... Walk to the end of the road for some great hawker stalls in the evening on Kimberley St... Highly recommended.

Small, intimate hotel run by very friendly staff. The room are simple and clean. Its an older building with a lot of character. I find the hotel really nice and relaxing. No television, but each room has its own air conditioner which is nice.

I stayed on the 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard. It was wonderful to just open the wooden window and listening to the bird chirping in the courtyard on a lazy afternoon. The cafe area is also very nice, and there are plenty of chair through out the hotel for just sitting down and read. The whole experience is very authentic and comfortable.

I went to Penang to see my dentist again 2 days ago and came to this little gem next to Chulia Street in Penang. Is just a little walk upward and you will find a little turning to Lebuh Cintra and this B&B is just next to it. Is a well restored guesthouse and the room is very nice and well decorated. The set up of the interior make you feel like want to stay longer and is just like another peaceful world in it. At night you might encounter some street prostitute tagging around but they are very friendly just wave your hand and say no if you are not interested. I saw some tourist even talking to them and like a friend. Is true in the morning you could hear noises of motorbike passing by but the place make you feel safe and secluded and I wont feel bothering it just another new day and sound of the Penang Island.

It is a conversion from a house. The building design is really interesting. The room was comfortable but pretty basic, e.g. wet bathroom (no separate shower). My room was very quiet except during the call to prayer from a nearby mosque. Room air conditioning worked well but the building design with an open courtyard meant the public areas obviously were not. There was no TV in the room but the WiFi worked well throughout the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was reasonable. The hotel could use some sprucing up, fresh paint, etc., but was certainly clean. I don't think the management has had much experience running a hotel, I came down once at 7:30 am, the hotel was shut up and there did not seem to be anybody around, but that will probably improve with time. All in all, a pretty good place to stay.

Room Tip: If you have a choice between the street and the mosque, take the mosque.
