“right at every time of the day”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

The China House is located in Beach Street in Georgetown and quite easy to reach. Under Australian ownership it offers an interesting combination of coffee House, restaurant, Bar, and Art Gallery. It offers breakfast which is served till late, home made cakes, coffe, small dishes like burgers and sandwiches and in the restaurant part more advanced cooking. And of course you can have a few drinks there, either.
You can feel right here basically every time of the day, the breakfast ist really good, coffee are well prepared (but take a while), my sandwich was also really good. Just the BTB restaurant gave some disappointments. While the selection of wine was great and worth the prices, the main dishes lacked the quality one could expect after reading the menue and also the service was not at the level I´d expect of a restaurant of that price range.
The owners of the China House also run the "straits collection", a number of shop houses you can rent as a real good alternative to hotels.
I would give 3 stars for the BTB Restaurant, 5 for the other parts, so I end up with 4 in total.

“What a find!”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

We came across this restaurant gallery quite by accident on a stroll through Little India. What a pleasant surprise! Food was great--particularly the desserts. But the real treat was the atmosphere. A cool hip vibe, artsy, and laid back. Staff are super friendly. We will definitely go back. Be sure to check out the upstairs and venture to the back garden and get a glimpse, and smell, of the bakery.

“Seriously good Vietnamese Chocolate Tart and Mint & Lime Cooler”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Seriously good Vietnamese Chocolate Tart and Mint & Lime Cooler and returned the second day after a tandoori at the Resto Kapitan round the corner - needless to say desert cost more than the main course - but nevertheless a great combination!

“Do not eat here.”
Reviewed June 28, 2012 via mobile

Poor excuse of fusion food.
Mint soda was awful - how can anyone do a bad mint soda?!?
Ginger Treacle dessert is sweet enough to send you into a diabetic fit!
Coffee was bad too!
Yuck!

“Fabulous, Period.”
Reviewed June 14, 2012

Funky, arty, coffee shop, restaurant, the best home made cakes in town (!), large garden, live music bar (don't miss if hometown trans-diva Roz is performing), handsome tomboy waiters for the ladies.
