“Don't stay there!”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

I had all my valuebles in their locker ( with lock) and the next day my stuff was gone...maybe they picklocked it ir i dont know.... Furthermore they let some guy ( they only know his name and didnt see his passport)sleep next to the lockers...

Well the "future owner" brought me to the normal police...because he did know that they wouldnt do anything about my case... If i would have called the tourist police they surely would have found the thieve or i would have returned the money for my computer, cam etc by the guesthouse...
The security guy told me it was my fault and tried to convince my that i didnt lock my locker...
The toilet/shower is very dirty and small, the windows are opened 24hours ...so no mosquito protection, no sockets for charging your stuff in the dorm room.
The lady from the reception is very unfriendly.
We bought some bus tickets and wanted to cancell 2 of 3 only 1hour later and he told us it was not possible etc etc etc

The beds are really hard and uncomfortable, you have to pay for toiletpaper ..if you want to leave your stuff in the guesthouse after checkout (maybe for waiting for the bus) you have to pay.
Well i think thats all.
Positive things:
Free wifi/computer.
Location

If you want to keep your money/ other valuebles dont stay there! There are better guesthouses around the corner next to a chinese temple...

Wifi is only available at a computer downstairs that is slower than Stephen Hawking's vocaliser.

Beds, they're there, that's a good thing i guess.

Toilet is pretty gross, the entire second level uses one toilet and one shower.

Breakfast is two slices of bread. Took two unwittingly, and the owner charged me the price of buying an entire loaf. Him and the woman, who i presume to be his wife, considering how they are always bickering, are incredibly stingy people. The woman would not lend us a bucket to do our own laundry, despite this being stated as perfectly alright on signs around the hostel, saying that they had no space for us to hang our laundry as they were busy with their own. Thus we had to pay. They force you to wash your own dishes as well, right down to how you apply soap and scrub the thing.

I'd much rather stay somewhere else; there's no experience to be had here besides a bad one.

Room Tip: go elsewhere

I've stayed in a lot of hostels and am not a fussy traveler, but this place was smelly, dirty and uncomfortable. Me and a friend paid for a double room which consisted of a bunk bed with 'Barny and Friends' mattress cover with an added brown stain. The shared toilet and shower were dirty and smelt pretty bad. You could smell the dirty over flowing toilet bin while you showered... I wouldn't recomend this place. For the same money there is plenty better in the area.

Stayed there cause everywhere else was booked, first there is NO bed bugs as for now and the location is very centeral within a walking distance of most of the main attractions.nice and relaxed place to meet other travellers and share some experiances,,the manager is a Taiwaneas guy with a young Indonesian wife and he is a real character with lots of informations about the area and the best and cheapest way to get anywhere whiich was really handy..apart from that the accomodation was basic with mostly share bathrooms and rough beds, very cheao though,,recommended for young travellers and backpackers.

Room Tip: don't stay on the third level as it gets really hot .

It's cheap but you can find cheaper hostels close by. They have free breakfast but that's only two toasts. It's dirty and the staff is pushy and very hyper! I only stayed there for one night and then I moved to another hostel 100 meters away.

my first impact with the owner wasn't good.
i asked to see the dorm and he said no!
so went to see other options..
you can find a cheaper dorm: no wifi and breakfast,
or very expensive dorm.
so i decided to come back and try lovelane inn..
the owner told me that his dorm was clean and comfortable..so no need to see before to pay.

yes the dorm is ok, you don't have a good mattress and the only fan is not enought for all the room...but i'm travelling in a budget so for me it's ok, stay 1-2 night in place like this.

pro:
free wifi,
free brakfast..only 2 slice bread, jam and only 1 coffee or tea.
dorm and bathroom are clean.
free looker

con:
no power sockets on the dorm..but you can charge form the reception.

Room Tip: if you need fan...get the upper bed so you will have more "fresh" air. brings mosquitos r...

Price is OK.
Good wifi
The Dorm Rooms 15 RN has locker for use. That's quiet necessary , because there is no door to the dorm.
When it's crowded you will have a extra bed directly beside yours.
The facility's are ok, only a little moldy don't forget to bring your own soap.

Breakfast: two slices of toast bread and shared marmalade, butter.you have to choose: 1 tea bag or 1 instant coffee. Hot water. Watch out! When your toast get burned of the faulty toaster you will not get another slice of bread. You have to read the warning. /-And don't forget to clean your cup and plate. Otherwise you will be loudly shouted by the manager.

No socket at the dorm room. You can use the sockets near the reception -during the day.

The recent manager: a embittered effecting man in the prime of his life is shouting loud next to everybody with his customers and after that talking to the other customers how rude this or that guest Is. No matter If you are interested to hear that or not. I disliked that not very professional behavior.

I'm sure with another manager and some little renewals (sockets in the dorm) this will be a great place to hang up in the beautiful old chinatown Penang .
It's so nice to sit at the veranda of the hostel and watch the people passing that unique street.
