The only thing that was disappointing was the DISHONESTY of the hotel housekeeping staff - left iPhone charger and multi plug in the room upon check-out. First call to hotel within the hour we left the hotel - lost and found department was NOT helpful at all. 3 follow up calls to the lost and found department was no avail. Decided to go back to the hotel to check - got back multi plug but iPhone charger was NOT returned. What could have been a wonderful near perfect stay experience was ruin because of the DISHONESTY of 1 INDIVIDUAL. I sincerely hope that Traders hotel look into how their Lost and Found department is managed.

Other than the above incident, the stay was good. We were pleasantly surprised when we receive pink roses on the day we check in - nice touch. Great location for foodie to enjoy some yummy local fare, all within walking distance. Hotel's helpful friendly concierge staff made our stay truly memorable. The hotel suite we stayed was clean and comfortable. Provided with L'occitane toiletries.Traders Club Lounge is great for a nice cup of tea in the afternoon. Wifi signal strong throughout the whole hotel premises. Staff at the F&B dept (Badri, Vickey) made our breakfast experience truly memorable with their warm hospitality. Keep up the good work!

This hotel is located in Georgetown. There are places to eat about 10 minutes away. There is a free bus that goes around town located 1 minute via walking.
Upon entering the hotel, the staff greeted us. They suggested we should upgrade to club status. It was worth it for a small amount of $ per night which includes daily breakfast buffet with huge variety & snacks and refreshments from 5/6 pm.
We took the shuttle to the sister property which has a few pools and water slide for kids. The duration of the ride was 30-45 minutes.

Probably the best value for money hotel in Penang.
Not situated in the posh Gurney drive drag, but tucked in close to
Little India and Chinatown, a great base for discovering the less touristy
parts on foot, and being next door to Komtar, (with the main bus station in Penang), great for exploring the whole island.
Friendly, smiling and very helpful staff, very good Breakfast buffet, comfortable rooms.
Convenient Hotel shuttle bus to the sister beach hotels, and the driver will drop you off at Gurney Plaza on the way back.
A four star hotel with 5 star service. Highly recommened

We got a great last minute deal (Govt rate of RM415nett) for a Club Executive Room on the 16th Floor, which afforded free and quick access to the Traders Lounge. The room and views from the 16th floor were great, as we were sea facing and could see the Penang Bridge from the vantage point. The formula for Shangrila and Traders Hotel, cannot be beat, so you know you get quality, because you pay for it. We stayed only for a night, as we were in transit to Belum.

The Pros and Cons of the club room:
Pros
-All day refreshments with evening canapes and drinks, and full breakfast. There are snacks available from lunch onward. Was there mostly chilling, loved it. Great value, as we didn't have to eat dinner nor breakfast outside at all.
-Was given a rose at the reception, which was a nice, thoughtful touch.
- The rooms amenities were great. Traders thinks of everything right down to hair ties and detergent powder.
- walking distance to Penang Road, the hub of Georgetown, that breaks into little roads ie Jalan Hutton, Lebuh Chulia, Love Lane etc
- Traders has a great pocket map which aids your overall experience in this historic town.
-Great attentive staff, who were properly trained, as they could answer and assist with everything.
Cons
- While the beds were super singles, the room felt cramped, as there was just too many things. Rather than 2 lounge seats, one would have sufficed, and the office table chair was just in the way. The shower/bath/toilet was also quite small, which resulted in lots of water splashing from the shower.
- The lifts don't have those room access cards only contraption as do 5star hotels for safety etc, hence anyone can walk around floors. However believe staff were vigilant, but this should be changed.
-The Traders lounge is one of the smallest and narrowest lounges I have seen, which should ideally be located toward the end of the 16th floor for larger space etc. Felt too cramped.
However, I always love Traders, as it's a retro and central place for family sojourns.

Room Tip: If you can, get a club room which is actual value for money, with all the refreshments and meals (br...

We spent a night at Traders Penang @ the executive suite with lounge access.
The executive suite consists of two "inter-connected" deluxe rooms, one as the bedroom and another one for the living room. I would have rated "ordinary" as the room amenities such as bathroom are not up to expectation (identical layout and same size as those of deluxe room) and refurbishment needed as the furniture are quite old (except the TV). Rooms are not quite sound proof, as i could hear our neighbor's conversation quite clear (or maybe they were loud).
No superb view from the room, but happy to see the old pre-war houses:)

Parking spaces are quite limited especially if there's a banquet going on. We reached the hotel at 10.35pm and the parking was full. A well rounded system from the hotel in controlling the traffic at lobby is needed as the drop-off place is always full of cars; obstructing those who wish to enter the car park.

Check-in speed is up to business hotel standard; staffs are friendly and well train. Although it took quite long for the hotel to pick our luggage from the drop off place, everything went smoothly from check-in to luggage delivery to our room. Bell hop was very helpful in getting us the new room cards when the old ones did not work.

Club lounge - everything is near perfect, food were generously served (+nice long back too!). It looks much like the an "cold" airport lounge - adding with bit of homely feel will be great!

Breakfast at the Islander is not fancy, yet offering much taste bud satisfaction.

Apart from the great team & services we had from the banquet and event planning department last December, also worth mentioning, the attentive staffs at the Club Lounge.

Stayed in the Traders Hotel for 2 nights. The room was slightly old (learn from concierge rooms will all be upgraded by early next year). The location is superb as hotel is linked to 3 shopping centres. Komtar, 1st Avenue & Prangin Mall so even if rain you can shop till you drop without being drenched.

The hotel is just minutes from Jalan Penang, New Lane along Jalan Macalister and Carnarvon Street (lots of coffee shops) where you feast till you drop.

The hotel even provides transportation to their sister hotel at Batu Ferringhi Golden Sands Resort for customers who wish to go the beach so you can feast in Georgetown and still enjoy the beach at Batu Ferringhi which we fully uterlized.

Overall i have stayed in many hotels in Penang and i am impressed with the Traders Hotel for great hospitality and service.
