Was invited for a private dinner last week. The dinner was superb. Having Chinese food in the fine dining way was a perfect mix. A combination of east and west in such a romantic place. Would recommend to those who want to know and taste the real Penang in the ‘heritage way’. The owner, Mr Seah, an avid antique collector is very friendly and helpful to their guests. You need to have passion in order to create something like that. A heritage boutique hotel like this is long overdue in Penang. Well done to the team of Chong Tian Hotel Penang.

Room Tip: Try the Chinese Fusion Food

One word. Picturesque. Every nook, every corner makes a perfect angle for a picture dated back in time. Retro antique fittings are decorated against vibrantly colored walls and bedrooms. To add to the atmosphere, Chinese oldies are pipe throughout the whole hotel including inside the rooms! Every time we step into the building, it's a feeling that is bewitching us back to that era of times where things are in sepia mode.

We were with a few families and were given each room that were all decorated differently. Also to note that the beds are lined with really luxurious smooth sheets, definitely with high thread counts and comfy 4 pillows on each bed!

On the downside though the roadside traffic can be heard from the room and they don't provide simple laundry bag.

Other than that, it was overall a good experience. We really appreciate the fact that they were really lenient about the late check out time. Thumbs up and recommended! If you've been to Puri Hotel in Malacca, you'll love it here even more!

The newest heritage hotel in Penang has the most gorgeous rooms you can imagine. Completely deocorated with chinese antiques, you feel like going back in time, the moment you step foot in the hotel.

The staff is very helpful and the rooms are luxurious. The Chinese restaurant serves great food!

Definitely the place to explore Penang from!

Room Tip: All rooms are great

The moment when I stepped into this hotel I fell in love with the building. A 130 years old restored heritage hotel on Penang UNESCO world heritage site. The interior of this hotel were surrounded by rich vintage furnishings, beautifully carved wooden doors, colourful fabrics, carpets, hand carved tables & chairs, venetian mirrors and intricate chineses motifs of dragon and pheonix.

Staff were extremely helpful, motivated, friendly and caring. Their services were extremely wonderful and a lot of seriously nice people.

The best part about this hotel is the location, you can walk around the old town. Most of the restaurants and nice food were easily reach by foot. Food along Lebuh Chulia, Lebuh Campbell, Lebuh Cintra, Lebuh Kimberley and Jalan Penang were just a few minutes away by foot.

The only one thing to watch out for, avoid having your room facing the street. I stayed in this hotel from 10 to 14 June 2012 and was given a room on level 2 facing the Jalan Pintal Tali Street. I could hear noises downstairs, a drinking cafe across the street, music coming from the karaoke a few houses away and engine roaring from the street. I do highlight this issue the next morning and the staff were quick and very kind, especially Christeen (Manager) and Louis (Chief Chef) who came to apologize and even offering me another room on level 3 facing the other direction.

Overall, my stayed and experience with this hotel were perfectly great. Will come back again.

Room Tip: You can check with the hotel directly with promotional price rather than book through agoda or hotel.com.

My partner and myself landed on Penang while doing our visa run from Koh Lanta. After a 10 hour trip we just wanted to rest our weary heads. We were dropped off on Jalan Chulia and popped into a couple of hotels. We then went to Chong Tian and we decided to stay here. The reception staff were so helpful and friendly and we stayed in a beautiful room, so clean and the furniture was stunning and most importantly, the bed was so comfortable, just like home!
Would definately stay again!
