went to Penang for a 3-day holiday trip with family.
stayed at Unit 12, in the only room at the ground floor, nearest to the restroom. room has 2 queensize bed, placed on top of each other, so we only get used 1. we occupied 2 rooms, 2 in each room.
the whole house is clean, rooms are well organized, restrooms have clean tiles and toilets, towels, TV, AC and electric fan are available on each room.
house is really an art space. the owners are artists, that's why.
rapid penang 101,103,104 bus stop is just a few steps away from the house.
since we don't have a car, we walk a bit far to find something to eat.
at lunch, we headed to new world park food court (at the back), it's 15 min walking distance
at night, we walked for 30 min going to Jalan Magazine, and on our way back, walked to KOMTAR to ride a bus.
you may go to Gurney Drive Hawker Food Center, a 45-min walk.
for a trip to Georgetown we hired a taxi (0124700330) to tour us,with running meter.
our contact person is Koh, he's so kind and he knows a lot so we asked him on whereabouts of Penang

Room Tip: at Unit 12, room at the ground floor has the easiest access to restroom.

The hotel is not that strategically located since it is away from the "happening" like Love Lane but as we drove, it wasn't a problem for us. As it was kind of located in a housing area, there are few available parking along the road.
We had a private en suite room which is great. The room is clean, comfortable and cozy.
In the morning there is this stall selling yummy kway teow teng (flat rice noodle soup) which the owner of the guesthouse told us had been selling for the passed 40 years.
Highly recommended!

I stayed at Penang Old House (POH) for close to 1 week. I enjoyed my stay and dearly recommend it. It is a bit away from the center, but that's the whole point. It is located in a beautiful quiet street. The house is ideal for a rest or a stay in a great big house. The decor is absolutely fantastic and innovative. If you stay at POH, you won't be disappointed !

We stayed at the second house of Penang Old House, I think no. 8 Jalan Phuah Hin Leong. We stayed 5 nights in the deluxe room, which had its own small bathroom. The room was minimalist but charming, done in a Japanese style.
We had the whole house to ourselves as only one other person was staying there. The fellow staying there was a Malaysian business traveler who seemed to know every B&B on the peninsula and this was his place in Penang. Certainly there was a nice living room with a big TV, basic kitchen which we didn't use (who cooks their own food in Georgetown?) and a very big washing machine and a dryer, all very useful.
Kelvin, the staff member whom we met, was very friendly and helpful. He even knocked a bit off the bill and didn't charge us the weekend surcharge, probably because we had a long stay. He gave us a lot of tips on places. The guesthouse itself is very near the Burmah Road, and by some excellent places to eat on that road.

This new setup has again shown me why home stays or bed & breakfast is the way to go in Penang. You learn from the locals where are the best places to go to. And Penang Old House is not short of that..

If you are looking for tranquility, book a weekend at this magnificent B&B. Although not the most decorative but it's quiet, tranquil and draws on your heart strings any time of the year!

The owner of Penang Old House are friendly and helpful, It is aptly located about 5-10 mins from the old town area. If you are looking to get to the the famed Gurney area for dinner, it is also a short 15 min bus ride away. Let see what else is there... oh did I mention there's a famous traditional biscuit shop that is just down the road! ask the owner where is "Him Heang" and he will point you there!

This place is kind a strategic due to it is located at the city center...around the area, there are plenty of well known food such as Chinese Dumpling, Penang famous biscuits and many more penang/malaysia hawker food. Along the way there are also a Hypermarket (Giant). This ease the daily groceries shopping.

Talking about the accomodation they provide, the room is tidy and clean...with LCD TV attached. Excellence in short!
