“Great hotel in a great location”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

Great Hotel, with clean fresh rooms all in white, a great shower, OK WIFI, great service and a great atmosphere. We were upgraded to a suite, two double beds with bathroom. One of the great things is the location, firstly in the Penang Heritage area and then back off the street, therefore no street noise. We only stayed overnight as we had a connecting flight but would have liked to have stayed a few more days. Restaurants, bars, 711 etc are just around the corner. Try not to arrive to Penang during peak hour traffic , 50 minutes from the airport to get to the hotel but only 25 minutes to get back. We loved it and definitely recommend the Chulia Heritage Hotel.

Hi...this is a lovely old hertiage building in the old town of Penang. Very clean with a great location.... The shared bathroom is very clean but can be very slippery as the showers are above the toilets...extreme care is required....It is quite noisy at night due.......
A lovely old character building in a greta location....The red Garden night market nearby is great for meals at night....

Room Tip: Get a room without a shared bathroom if thuis suits you better....take care on the slippery floors

We stay in this hotel located in the city centre of Penang, closed to many famous Penang eateries. From the hotel we could walk to Toh Soon Cafe located in a back lane of Kimberly Street for our breakfast. This cafe is famous for coffee, kaya toast, half boil eggs and Penang Chief Minister used to have breakfast here too. Another famous stall is Teochew traditional chendol and ABC (air batu campur) near Penang Road. Six of us stay in 2 rooms, 2 ladies in a double room with attached bathroom at ground floor; 3 adults and a youth in a family rooms, easily and comfortably accommodate 4 of us with 2 queen beds on the first floor. It was a unique experience that all rooms guest going up the first floor have to leave their shoes downstairs. The floor on upstairs are wooden and in facts all rooms are wooden. And they are all painted in white, very classic and lovely. Most of all, the rooms are cheap if you book in advance. The double room cost RM120 and the family room only cost RM140.

New renovated hotel in georgetown, not far from little india and downtown.

We found our stay very pleasent. The rooms are small, but clean und simply furnished - they have all you need.

Nice Lobby with couches and free wifi to spend the evening.

The offer rooms with bathroom and rooms with shared bathroom.

The day we left (by nighttrain to KL) the offered us a fresh towel and a shower before we headed to the trainsation, which was very nice and refreshing after a whole day pf sightseeing.

If we come back, we would stay there again!

We spent 2 nights and 3 days at this Hotel, and had quite a pleasurable experience. The rooms are a tad tiny, so if you are big framed, ask for a larger room. (We booked the standard double)
Located right in the middle of Chulia street, there were plenty of restaurants and bars at walking distance. The famous Love Lane, the National Museum, the Esplanade, & the Blue Mansion were also about 15-20 mins away, by foot.
The wi-fi is good, but works mostly in the lobby area. The rooms were very clean, comfortable beds, with a TV, AC, bottled water and fresh towels (changed daily). The bathroom was tinier than the room & you practically have to shower sitting on the toilet - but we didnt mind.
We had a good stay overall, and would recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: Some rooms are smaller than the others in the same category. Ask the hotel staff to show you 2-3 roo...

Book online no problem, chulia street is a good location to good food, market, komtar and nightlife is not too far. Have stayed twice now and will recommend to family and friends. While there please eat at the Mona Liza, not too far up Chulia... Great food and excellent service. Stardust is right out the front and good for breaky.

This hotel is approximately 1km from the Weld Ferry Terminal complex, so it would be an easy walk if one had limited luggage. We took a taxi, though and it gave our driver the opportunity to show us some of the Indian restaurants that are nearby and have good food. The building is white and we were surprised by the whiteness of our room. We had chosen a deluxe room so the bathroom included a shower that overhangs the toilet. The bed is quite hard, but the room is airconditioned to a reasonable temperature. We were quite happy to stay there and we found it be good value. Staff at reception are friendly and helpful. They were able to answer several questions and assisted us with some arrival difficulties associated with the room. We were on the ground floor and footsteps from the floor above were quite loud.

Room Tip: Ground floor is good for travellers with a lot of luggage.
