I would rate this among my favorite meals in the last year or so.
I am very glad we found this place and intend to return at least once this trip (this is extremely rare for me, as I like to try as many and varied places as possible in a new city).
We were warned it would be busy, it was an understatement. Luckily we arrived in a lull which meant the wait for a table wasn't hideous. But after being seated it became obvious chance was on our side as the line grew and grew while we ate.
But even if you wait an hour to sit it is worth it!
We ordered far too much and couldn't finish half of it, but everything they brought to the table was excellent (mixed vegetables excluded. This was suggested at the start by the waiter and I think it was done so assuming we would not likely enjoy some of the more classic dishes).
Try the braised pork trotters with mushrooms; sweet but loaded with flavor and seasoned flawlessly.
Duck with Ginger a winner. And absolutely order the prawns in tamarind, in fact get two serves and a cold beer, you'll be wrapped you did!

This place is fantastic. Nice, big, airy restaurant mainly frequented by locals. The food was excellent; we had fried rice (for two), deep fried chicken in ume plum sauce, brussel sprouts with garlic and prawns, and double roasted pork with chili. Everything was perfectly cooked with delicious flavours. We drank the lime juice; big slices of lime in sweetened ice water - so refreshing! Our meal came to about 50RM, which considering the quality is really good value. Seriously, if you like Chinese food you have to eat here. I can't wait to go back!!

The place is more like a local coffee shop than a restaurant. No frills but with plenty of atmosphere.
It is located in an old part of town amongst quaint little shops. In the daytime, there is a market along the street so parking can be a problem.
We arrived early in the evening to grab a table as we heard that the place fills up very quickly. True enough, the people started streaming in soon after.
Service was swift and we got our food really fast.
The refried roast pork with Birdseye chillies is their signature dish. Try it, you will love it.
We also had the fish curry , home cooked style. Both dishes not to be missed.
We will surely pop in for a meal whenever we are in Penang, that's for sure.

We came twice while being in Georgetown.
It is very busy around 7-8 pm, but the staff is very nice and makes sure you are seated.
Everything seemed very fresh and well-prepared!
I can definitely recommend the squid with salt and pepper and the spinach with eggs. Enjoy!

Get here early if you don't want to queue! Very popular with the locals and quite well known now to tourists. The Chinese food is amazing and so tasty. Authentic Penang restaurant. Try Tek Sen for the food and the people watching!
