Nothing much to shout about

Stayed for one night, booked through Agoda with a discounted rate without breakfast.
At that price we paid, we were expecting slightly more but seems a tad too disappointing especially in the furniture and facilities.

Room condition: There were a lot of wear and tear conditions such as furniture doors, water taps, bathtub, sink and fixtures. There were no proper maintenance of the furniture and fixtures. The air-conditioning system in our room was quite weak (blower was not strong despite at highest speed), but we didn't ask for a change. Despite all the wear and tear, there were complete facilities provided such as hair dryer, iron and ironing board, tv with cable channels. Pillow and bed condition are ok, with pretty good sleep quality.

Frontdesk service: Check in and check out was a breeze. Staff were courteous and quick.

Gym facilities : Not in proper condition. Couldn't get the threadmill to start. So went for a jog outside the hotel.

Parking area: We drove and parked in the hotel. The basement parking was very narrow and limited. The parking lots are small. If you have a bigger car such as 4x4, may need to think twice.

Overall experience: average hotel, average experience. May return if there are no other choices.

Room tip: Get a higher floor for the view.

Average old hotel

The hotel looks quite old. The furnitures and facilities are old. Some lights and water taps are broken. The room smells bad. But the location is good, about 15 mins' walk to downtown shopping center and without lots of restaurants and street food stand nearby. Breakfast is average. The staff is friendly.

Nice Breakfast

the only thing that i miss in this hotel was their breakfast..i believe they have a very good pastry chef..their muffin is excellent..their room was okay..they should have a better toilet to be at the lobby area..

Average hotel for the price

Superior Room on 16th floor 1619 was good size on south side but stained carpet and bathroom was moldy and in need of revamp. Towels were thin and old. Staff helpful and hotel was near supermarket and food court as well as restaurants. Returned for a further 2 nights to a different room on 16th floor 1616 was in same condition as well as windows that would not close. Noisy airconditioner. The hotel was tired and these 2 rooms definitely required renovation. Also charged us more second visit as booking not made on internet but by phone although a slight discount was negotiated after checkin.

Room tip: Some floors are smoking and room beside lifts are noisier

Not very central, but overall OK

Good breakfast buffet, and overall very good rooms. Unfortunately, it does not enjoy a great location, as it is approximately 30/40 minutes outside of the main highlights of Penang. Just next to the hotel there is a big supermarket, a few restaurants and a few reflexology centers, but that's about it.
There is no internet connection in the rooms, as it is only provided in the lobby. What a shame for an hotel that has 4 starsand overall is supposed to be somehow 'premium'.
