I've been there on last May '09. Booked via via online a month earlier (i get it very cheap).. Just wanna try kinda 'pay as you use hotel', so the expectation is not that high la... Moment i arrived i seems quite lost (i was 7yrs old last time 2 Penang). The check-in smooth tho d receiption was quite blur (lack of sleep i guess).

THE COOL
I was amazed by the room condition.. (Double Room) worth every penny ive paid. The wallpaper, power prepaid aircond(check w/site), perfect shower room, the view..my room facing Jln Burmah n basically the whole view of its T junction. WIth rate that im paying, the staff still helpful and smile.

THE NOT COOL
1) lack PARKING space its not really convenient for the this high-density hotel, i think u guys shd assign/outsource any parking management company 2 expand your parking space.
-I return quite late when i saw all the parking is full and i ve to park very far from hotel (nearly 1KM) and walked down thru d dark street @3am..
-On 3rd nite i managed 2 get a parking in front of hotel lobby entrance, next morning when i wanna go out 4 breakfast.my car stucked when another hotel guest car blocking my access to exit.(How can they let he/she park that way) . Waiting like an hour 2 identify who's.. haiyya..
2)Method of parking payment inconsistence.
-1st day i'm paying RM5 per entry, and its really a burden coz i've been in and out hotel like 5-6x a day.

Overall, this hotel is really a ideal for those who really wanna spend 30% in room, 70% somwhere else (Ecspecially backpackers ).. cheap yet comfortable.. i wish we have a lot more hotel that practising the same concept as Tune... Bravo!

Information on their room configuration is not available on the hotel's website. I was travelling with 2 young children and requested for connecting rooms. During check-in, I was told that connecting rooms are 1 double room connected with 1 twin room only. As I booked 2 double rooms, I would need to cancel 1 double room booking and make a new booking for a twin room and top up a substantial price difference as the walk in rate for twin room is much higher. How ridiculous!

The rooms are really compact. When I off the lights, the luminous paint of flower and bamboo designs on the wall scared my children.

Noise level is also a problem as we heard doors openig and closing and young children from other rooms crying through the night.

Stayed for 2 nights for a short business trip to Penang.....nice little hotel with modern design. Staffs were friendly and helpful. They have basic rooms with bed, pillows, duvet, safe box, foldable table and an adjoining bathroom with a very good shower. Don't expect luxuries in this hotel. Basis hotel for basic travellers who only required a comfortable and clean rooms to rest and sleep. Some facilities are available as an add on basis, air con, towel, hairdryer and wifi. But they provide free internet usage at the lobby. Good place to stay if you are on a budget.

Stayed here for 3 days 2 nights out of curiosity... the price is very very cheap, location is perfect, you get what you pay for though.

Don't expect too much with the room, but the bed is very comfortable, CR size is good, no television and no pipe in music so nothing much to do but sleep, and then the walls are so thin you can hear everything that is happening outside your room, and then the aircon, wifi, hair dryer are prepaid.. kind of funny coz the last night we were there we only had 8 hrs balance for aircon and will be staying for more than 8 hours in the room before checkout...haha, dont want to pay extra so we waited until 1 a.m before we turn on the aircon..good thing there's a ceiling fan!!

Wifi connection @ the lobby is very good but once you go to your room it takes forever to connect and the signal is so weak. They offer 30 mins free internet access at the lobby so thats good. There's a 7-11 store downstairs, CIMB money changer, and few steps away to penang restaurants...

If ur on a tight budget and will be staying here only to sleep and take a shower then this is a perfect place for you.

Tune Penang was just what we needed for a very reasonable price (about 15USD/night in Aug 2009). It's a 20-30 min walk to a local bus station, nightlife and major sights of Georgetown, so we were able to walk most places. The building is fairly new and has a convenient cafe and store in the lobby. There are no tvs and most items are extras (towels, hair dryer, a/c, in-room wireless), but there is free internet for guests in the lobby (limit 30min). The rooms are pretty clean, though small (we could just barely walk around the queen-sized bed). There isn't much room to hang anything, but if you're like us and just need a room to sleep in, the Tune Penang is a good choice.

Note: we also stayed in Tune Downtown KL which was comfortable, though older than Tune Penang.

Location, room, bed are nice & clean! please birng your shampoo, shower gel, toothprush and toothpaste to stay in this hotel, you can buy it at G/F 7-11 ! Next to the hotel you can find a very good food court to eat!

I had very BAD sleep in 3 days 2 nights. Its becuase outside are too noisy, the soundproof in room are very bad. Peoples walikng and talking too loud at the corridor in the mid-night. The fire alarm suddenly Ring around 5am, but the staff do not inform tourists to right away, when the fire alarm is ringing.

I only see one western couples and us ( me & my husband ) to run away to lobby. I am sure the hotel are full house. 15 mins Later they just announce on micophone, this is the fault alarm ringing due peoples smoke in room!! For me the safety concept for tourists and hotel staffs are very POOR.... they dun care much about the fire alarm ringing.

Stayed for 3 nights. Located on Jalan Burmah, good downtown location. Took about 10-15 minutes to walk to the major sights in Georgetown (on busy, pavement-less roads, but hey, that's Malaysia :-) )! 3 of us stayed for 3 nights for around GBP 20 - can't get better than that! Showers were great, beds were really comfy.
Tip - you have to pay for air con as an add-on. Check your room out before you purchase your air con allowance - my room had a great ceiling fan in and the air con came on accidentally anyway so I didn't actually need to use the air con I paid for...and they don't do refunds. Also, you can pay for 12 hours wireless connection but they don't advertise the fact that there is free internet access in the lobby.
Unfortunately, the doors were quite thin and if you're a light sleeper, noisy people in the corridors may keep you awake, but I didn't find it a problem.
All in all, a great little hotel and highly recommended.
