“A hidden gem”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

Fascinating to see the old graves and learn about the people. So many died so young.

I belong to a group in the UK who is doing the same thing with our local cemetery, locating the graves and finding out about the lives of the people buried there so it was fascinating to see how someone else had done it.
Not as morbid as you expect but it is a slightly, odd thing to visit as a tourist when Georgetown has so much to offer.

“Fascinating cemetery with an interesting history”

Lovely overgrown, atmospheric cemetery; wonderful old tombstones and graves. The founder of Penang, Francis Light, is buried there.

“A little bit of Olde England”

Lots of colonial Brit history to see here. Why not take a look ? Very easy to find, behind the Shell Petrol Station on Penang Road.

“An untouched resting place”

I stumbled onto the site as I had no map with me at the time. Sites like this are a reflection of the times and it seems to be respectfully maintained.

“Cemetery.”

Potentially a great place to read the early history of old Pg. There is much could be done to this. Improved signage. Seats around the garden would be good and welcoming.
