When you look at the restaurant, it's nothing to shout about. It looks slightly old and cleanliness is something they can improve on, but man is the food great!! They are famous for their morning dim sum and for lunch, the variety of stir fried noodles are amazing. I have tried the 'fan shu' which is a combination of thick hor fun noodles and beehoon (vermicelli) that can be fried with seafood/meat or a combination. This dish is particularly tasty as it is stir fried to perfection. Another worthy dish to try is their braised fish head beehoon (vermicelli). This takes about 15-20 minutes to cook, but I promise it's worth the wait. There is a little gravy with this dish and it's absolutely heavenly.

This restaurant has been blogged about in many local food blogs and many tourists come to visit, including Caucasians! It's definitely a must-try experience while you are in Penang. They are also known for their Hainanese Chicken Rice.

I wanted a cup of tea.
In fact I wanted a whole pot.
I ended up with a feast of a half dozen different dim sum dishes spread out on the table in front of me and I washed the lot down with tiny cups of excellent "Goddess of Mercy" tea. I came across this place by chance and when I saw that it was full of loudly chattering grey haired locals I guessed that it would be worth a try. I'm happy I did and even went back again another time. Very rustic, authentic, down to earth place, a bit noisy, but great atmosphere and fantastic food. The staff, who were almost all as old as the clientele, were very clam and friendly and helpful. Check out the sliding roof if you go. They open it up to let the air ventilate and close it over when the sun comes overhead or it rains. Close to the centre of the old part of George town I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for 'real' Chinese-Malaysian food. It closes around 2 pm so best to get there early for breakfast, lunch or an early brunch.

We came here for a few times and every time we were satisfied and are very pleased to recommend this restaurant to anybody who are coming to Pulau Penang and who love Chinese food. We love the Dim Sum and chicken rice. They are really yummy! The Chinese tea that goes along with the Dim Sum is very good as well. The "Loh Mai Gai" - savory glutenous rice with chicken, pork and mushroom, is excellent! You must try this.

This place is full of Penang locals which means it must have a very good reputation (or else we won't see any locals here). It is always full of people (usually we need to wait for an empty table or sometimes, some people don't mind sharing a table with you) and the food finished quite early. So get up early and go there before it's too late.

The restaurant is clean, quite noisy but that's the kind of atmosphere for a typical Chinese restaurant for eating and chit-chatting. The experienced waiters and waitresses are mostly uncles and unties above 50 years old. I guess most of them have been working in this restaurant for a long time already. And most of them speak English. They are friendly and helpful. I won't say every time you'll get fast service especially when it is really busy, but most of the time the food is served quite quickly.

The price is very reasonable.

Go where the locals go, it won't be wrong!
