I am a penangite and i honestly dont think there is any other soup house that can match Sup Hameed. Located opposite Hotel Malaysia, the place is always crowded at any day but there are ample sittings. They have range of soups from common chicken, beef and mutton soups to a range of more exotic soups such as cow's tongue, liver and tendons. Soups are served piping hot and goes well with a fluffy loaf commonly known as roti benggali. There are many other dishes served here but I strongly suggest to stick to the soups.

What can I say ... my personal favourite Sup Kambing dengan Roti Benggali (Lamb Soup with bread), My tea time stop favourite - Teh tarik (Tea) and Roti Canai.

My tip - The soup taste better the later it is rather at than at the start of business!
- If you order Teh Tarik (tea) ask for Kurang Manis (less sweet). Or you get a very sweet tea.

Inexpensive place to eat. They are open until 2am.

Sup Hameed, 48 Penang Road, Georgetown, Penang is a great restaurant serving a mixture of Indian/Malay food. The coffee and tea are prepared the old way with sweet milk. Roties Canai are a specialty available all hours of the day. There are several different chicken and rice dishes. The cost of a average meal is about MR10 and Sup Hameed is open 24 hours.

There were many good Indian restaurants in Penang in the 60/70s ( Meera/City etc) but many of them have closed down.Thankfully,Hameediah,survived.The ayam masak ros/chicken kapitan/briayani rice are still good bets today as they were many years ago.Again, another trip down memory lane for Penangnites.
