Spent 2 nites at the hostel. It is quiet and away from the busy city rush and traffic noise. Took Rapid Penang #102 from Sg Nibong Bus Terminal (Rm2.70) to the hostel. The bus does not stop in front of the hostel but at the Island Private Hospital (200 metres away).

Free wifi is available and the strength and connectivity may not be at its best. You need to sign-in and request for connection every time you log-out. Good Luck...enjoy your surfing. A complimentary breakfast is served at level 2. Either the Asian Noodle soup or the standard Toast bread with bake beans and egg.

Comparatively low hostel fee which is proportional to the standard of facilities and services you will get. A short stay will be fine as there are many more interesting accommodation else where.

decent stay, bed was a bit wonky, pillow not the best. But BEST COFFEE in asia!!!!!
nothing was too much to ask for the admin desk, had free wifi. Carpet was not very clean. Location was ok as I was there to head to Island hospital, so going across the road was very convenient. Breakfast was not fantastic but as expected from just a hostel

This is a very comfortable place to stay at a great price. The rooms are of an older style but the beds are comfortable and to rooms are of a generous size (especially if you take the supreme option). The restaurant on the ground floor is outstanding and the cafe (on the 2nd floor) serves the complimentary breakfast. Great place, great people. You cant beat this for a value stay in Penang.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the complimentary breakfast, it is top notch

The hotel had the best location as it was just accross Island Hospital. If you or your family have to visit Island Hospital, then YMCA is the perfect choice.
I and my family stayed here for about 3 weeks to accompany our mother who had to go through surgery in Island Hospital.
It's a 2 star hotel and therefore you need to manage your expectation as it would definetely not a marriot or ritz experience.
The building was quite old and so are the rooms. Basic needs were fulfilled: warm water, good and clean beds, towels, simple breakfasts and of course helpfull staffs.
The price they offerred was really a value for money.
They have also a chinese restaurant on the ground floor thay you need to visit. Great food! But please be prepared as this is not halal.

Fairly near to Penang GH, Island hospital and RCSI-Penang medical college.

Basic amenities are available
- Air-conditioned
- TV (Fox, AXN, Discovery)
- Wifi (good coverage, fast enough to stream netflix, but only limited to one accesory and requires re-login if you accidentally turn off your device
- water heater
- Toilet looks shabby but is clean
- Free breakfast (single portion, 2 fixed set everyday with tea/coffee)
- dinner/lunch available at hostel restaurant(but why? Just walk 10 mins out and you'll enjoy the local delicacies..even if you are not a tourist... It is just 10 minutes walk and u hit the main streets.
