The hotel has a very colonial feel and well kept exterior and interior. Staff was helpful, some did not have a smile but served us without complains. Rooms are basic, we took the cottage twin. Toilet for abit moldy for my liking, but it was not too bad. Sleep quality was ok, woken up a one time due to the noisy air-cond (vibration of the vent). Penang is food haven, so dont eat in the hotel, there are much better and cheaper food just 3-5 mins away (Pulau Tikus, Gurney). The pool was decent as well.

We were looking for a place to chill after a couple of weeks in downtown Penang.By accident we spotted this hotel which looked great from the outside and had lovely little poolgreat for cooling off after a days walking.Staff very friendly and breakfast very good.Room had fridge and a nice flat screen TV but only 6 Malaysian channels.

Room Tip: We had a poolside room with balcony, excellent.

The hotel looks pretty cool from the outside, like any old colonial architecture. Staff is ok. The hotel is 2 stories building. Provided with swimming pool. The standard room is pretty basic. No cable TV. Don't expect anything from this hotel. Everything is basic, simple and average. Towel is not good. It is a budget hotel anyway. Water pressure is really strong. The receptionist failed to inform us that our room has no breakfast. It's really frustrates us because we have to walk to the restaurant with empty stomach and then they gave us the bad news. Location is good, at Burma Road.

Love the atmosphere of the hotel and heritage experience. However hotel staff and attitude to the customers disappointed us.
We come late and the guy on the reception surcharged 50% more regular price (we payed 180rm, instead of 140 for superior terrace double room), asking to pay upfront and extra deposit. We decided it's to late and we were tired, checked in hoping to solve the problems tomorrow. 5 am the neighbors woke us up, and were making noise for 2 hours. The staff ignored all our requests about the noise. In the morning we tried to solve the price issue, the staff argued that it was a public holiday, even though it wasn't mentioned in their own price (attached their price list below)

The front desk is a sleepy bunch. They can never find your reservation. On the night we checked in they overcharged us saying it was a public holiday, even though their own brochure says it was not. The room itself is very basic, although it does have a heritage feel to it. It comes at the expense of thin walls. The nights wee noisy. It's cheap but not worth it. The hainan restaurant downstairs is food though.

Ok I had no expectations, I was looking for a reasonably priced Hotel in George Town for 2 nights. I was very pleasantly surprised, I got a down stairs room, it was big, clean and I liked the extra touches, Free water, Insect Repellant and Free Wi Fi in the room. The bathroom was adequate and clean.
Really for the price the Hotel is really good value for money, with the bonus of a pool.
The staff were very nice and helpful
Some of the more expensive Hotels can learn from this property.
Only gripe the Taxi desk in the lobby tried to charge me 120 Ringit to the Airport a journey that costs 40.
