“Nothing Much, But A Good Stroll”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

It's the "Little India" of Penang where you'll see numerous Indian boutiques selling 'saree' and accessories. There are also a number of food stalls around. Would be a good stroll for people who are here for the first time and would like to see/ experience the Indian culture. However, there's an Indian temple in the street which you can go in.

“A taste of south India, right here in Penang”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Compared to KL version of little (not so) India, I find the Penang's is more close to heart. It has everything from food, fashion, shops for everything from India, temples and places to relax. This place is perfect for a slow stroll, hot tea and some snacks in the evening before heading to famous eateries around for a good meal. Enjoy it, slowly.

“A great place to stroll during the evening”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

It's especially nice to stroll around this area during early to late evening. Many of the stores were lit up and there are plenty of interesting knick-knacks for sale. During the day, you can find lots of tantalizing Indian snacks for sale at bargain prices, such as vegetable samosas and onion bhajis. My only negative is the Sri Mariamman Temple. While the temple itself is wonderful, I was rather offended to be asked for a specific sum (in terms of a 'donation'). 10 ringgit (about 100 baht or US$) might not be considered to be a huge sum of money, but it is a lot to someone traveling on a tight budget.

“Small and shabby”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

The authentic smell of India, as well  as music playing, gave this place the feel of India. However we felt that it was a bit shabby, and too many shops were selling foodstuff. We would have liked to see more Indian goods

“Great Basmati Rice”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

The prices were reasonable for the varied selection. Good to walk around a bit to find all of what you need. Every vendor had something unique to offer and it was rare that any two vendors made their product exactly the same
