“Cheap but very basic room”
Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

Hotel is very old. Room has musky carpet smell. However you get what you paid for therefore for the price being paid, you get a basic hotel room with functional bathroom. Breakfast however was horrible, not up to par as compared to many hotels. I would rate this hotel a 2 star.

Stayed here for 3 nights with family.Booked via agoda.
Check-in was fast, but they take a 100 MYR refundable deposit, which they refund as well..so no issues there.
Room was quite spacious, but the washroom's could be better.Needs an upgrade definitely..
Though there was tea ,coffee offered in the rooms, they don't give you tea bags..Only coffee..pretty strange..so we bought our own tea bags and sugar.

Hired a scooty for about 30 MYR a day(automatic)..the manual ones are available at 20 MYR a day..you will just need about 10 MYR fuel for 2 days of traveling around the island..Hire the scooty from outside the hotel..there are a few guys outside the hotel - 20 steps away.
The hotel charges 35 MYR per day.

Breakfast buffet had all the basics - Egg,noodle station, fruits, porridge,etc..food taste could be better, but was ok for the money paid.
The beach was about 100 metres away from the hotel, 2 mins walking, which was the best part.

At the exit gate of the hotel, you find the Pangkor Burger station - a vendor - Mr.Isa..he makes amazing burgers - chicken, beef, etc etc..very cheap too..He is available 6 PM to 12 AM, every day..great guy.
Near Teluk nipah beach is Daddy's island cafe - don't miss the mutton curry..was good..served in a claypot.and the beer is chilled!
For island hopping,snorkeling,etc,- try different beaches - we found the guys at Teluk Nipah beach quite reasonable - Look out for Mr.Yan - Coral bay water sports..for 3 of us - he charged 60 bucks - including snorkeling equipment..there are others charging upto 250 MYR...I'll let you do the math..
The AC's in the room cannot be remote controlled, so temperature control is an issue..you just have to switch it off when it gets too cold..thats an irritation.
Good trip..Hotel location is amazing..all in all..don't mind staying here again.Courteous and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Take a higher room, not facing the pool..is quiet.

I just visited tripadvisor's site and was shocked to see that this resort is 7th in Pangkor it should be up.Its a very good resort of all the other resorts in the island. Its been good maintained. The staff is really good, especially the restaurant staff having a guy name Jet was really good at service and with a good humor always there to help while we were there and another indian guy i can't remember his name but was good too. The pool area was good enough for us to relax. The beach is a 2 minutes walk. So we recommend this place for both friends and family to stay . Surely to come again the next trip.

Room Tip: Third floor has a good view

The hotel is not in 2014 standards. More like 1995 standards. Everything is old. Wifi is weak. Air conditioner is cold tho. It works for a budget holiday but not at published prices. Maybe it's island but that does not mean that in a captive market you can take customers for granted!

It is one the best resort of the island. clean and calm :)
Staff are quite friendly and polite. There is a pool in the central area of the resort which make it a good choice for families who are visiting the island with their kids.
The resort itself is located near one of the beach resorts and it is less than five minutes walk to the beach where you can enjoy a lot of adventure including "giant bubba" that we tried and is strongly recommended.
The only negative aspect is WiFi connection that is quite slow, especially if you have plans to watch some videos in youtube.

Firstly I would like to say that on first impressions we were a small bit underwhelmed going on 3-4star standards from Europe!
However our stay was wonderful, we had to call the reception to get assistance on our first night and they were very accommodating, friendly and prompt on addressing our concerns. Each morning we were greeted with big smiles and salutations from ALL the staff.

The team in the restaurant were more than accommodating, they offered us options outside if the set menu in order to vary our breakfast options over he duration of our stay!

Their were 3 highlights for me.
1. A young gentleman on the door who smiled every morning and evening and greeted us so warmly every time we passed through the hotel, so sorry I don't remember your name

2. When my partner was sick, both Mr Ragout (the GM) and their wonderful concierge brought me to the pharmacy, when I only asked the location of the pharmacy! No stress, no hassle, they were so kind and wonderful.

3. Mr Ragout, went out of his way to make our stay Exceptional! No matter how crazy our request, he managed to arrange it for us! Wonderful asset to the company and a very fair manager with his staff.

We would definitely go back! As for the comments about Rats in the hotel... I think that's a lot of fibs!

Location v good, 2 mins to the beach.
Room perfectly adequate and clean!

Thank you Coral Bay for making our vacation one to remember!

The staffs of the hotel were very nice, but wi-fi connecting condition was very bad.
I could not connect even at robby space.

I changed the room twice because of noisiness.and wi-fi connecting condition.
