“Best Stay Ever!!”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

I spent 4 nights in the "apartments" of BESTSTAY with 50 travel-mates. We just finished traveling around the world for 11 months and BESTSTAY really has been one of the BEST. The hotel is clean, spacious, GREAT AirCon, wonderfully fast internet. And my favorite, the owners. Probably the most helpful and happy couple ever. They hooked us up with amazing places to eat, spend our time, rent motos etc. If you are coming to Pangkor Island, I highly recommend BESTSTAY!

If that option would be there. The hotel is good, but I think it is a bit pricey. There are cheaper and equal or better quality options on Pangkor and in Malaysia I think.

Had a single room, which was fine and clean with a good bathroom. Tv included with 2 channels with movies rolling (seems to be an island thing, cause had that to in another hotel) which is a nice touch. Staff working is also very friendly. Location is a few minutes walk from the ferry, but stayed here only 1 night because I wanted to stay closer to the beach.

As I said, I think the price is a bit high for a single room, since I now have a bungalow close to the beach for about the same price. That said I don't want to be negative about the hotel, because of the friendly staff and clean room. The wifi is a bit slow though and one thing that was a bit annoying is the fact that when there are people sitting in the lobby and having a good time, you can basicly hear everything to the letter on the first floor in your room. They stopped at 0030 so I was fine with it, but still.

I had a nice stay for a night, but would personally go for options closer to the beach. If you wan't to be close to the ferry, this is probably the best choice.

We walked from jetty to our hotel because it was very close about 5 minutes. We booked a room with a twin bed and extra mattress for us 3 but when we got at our room we find out that it is really small for 3 people so asked them to change the room, they say it is not high season and upgrade us to a room with one single bed and one queen bed with a balcony for free! the room was very clean, we went to daddy's cafe for food and for beach, and we hired a car too. we really loved Pangkor Island because of the nice beach and clear water, had a very good vacation there.

Good location in town (5 mins walk from jetty), very very clean (I hope the cleaners are well paid!), nice quiet rooms and mostly friendly and helpful staff. We hired a motorbike from the hotel next door. The Island One cafe is great as is the hawker stall opposite where the taxi's park at the jetty. They sell lots of fried delights including big sardine spring rolls (they may not sound nice but they are!) and dounuts.

Only con was a lack of storage space in the rooms and the mattresses in our room require replacement as they dip in the middle.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room close to the back with window looking onto the central area - noise was not a pr...

A decent place to stay. We rented a motorcycle from the hotel next door and rode around the island. Very close to the Pangkor Jetty (second stop from Lumut). The owner was very helpful. Great budget hotel.

We stayed here for 5 days in February 2012 and enjoyed our experience.

Firstly I hope we can help with some transport information. It was very easy to travel there from Kuala Lumpur taking a direct bus to Lumut (5 hours) which makes toilet stops and drops you off right at the ferry terminal. These buses can also be booked online in advance with Easibookdotcom and you can exchange your printed receipt with the company at the bus terminal for your actual ticket. On arrival in Lumut ferry terminal pay only 10 Ringgit from the office on the quay, return is included in this price.

The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal connecting to the mainland and close to some nice cheap local restaurants and co-op food stalls. We would highly recommend Island One Cafe on the main street which was good quality and very cheap. The best public beach by far is Coral Beach which you can take a taxi to (15 Ringgit each way) or cycle. Note the roads are very steep getting there and may be dangerous.

We thought the hotel rate was quite pricey but our room was clean and seemed fairly new with flat screen TV, air con, and hot water. The English channels were limited but the manager plays a rolling programme of movies. The only problem with this is not knowing when they start/end. The room was cleaned daily and they had cheap laundry service available. The manager was helpful and amended our bus tickets for us. No breakfast was included which we thought was poor for the overall cost. Rooms at front of hotel may be noisy due to traffic, we had a room at the back which was mostly quiet, apart from the local mosque whose call to prayer would wake even the deepest of sleepers. Overall we would recommend, enjoy!

Room Tip: Rooms at front are busy during day but Mosque at the rear may get you up in the morning.

Pro:
1. Clean
2. Friendly staffs
3. Free WIFI

Cons:
1. No Lift (If you are travel with huge luggage, or you travel with old folks or Baby - be prepare to carry all the way up - depends which floor you stay)
2. Basic and small room and bathroom
3. The location is okay which is near to the Jetty - but is quite distance from the major attraction e.g. restaurant or the beach itself. So you always need to hire a taxi to go to the beach or eating in the restaurant.
