We booked a resident package unfortunately the onlys rooms available were the garden or hill view. We opted for hill view.
Ferry ride
Was short and sweet. With amazing views.
Room
Was a good size and clean.
The view from hill view was breath taking .
The walls are paper thin. If you spending time in your room to relax opt for a stand alone villa instead. We had cleaners in the room next to ask that sat around chatting. While we tried to have a afternoon nap.
Food
Dining within the package is durning set times. If you have young children note you are unable to change dinner times.
We tried several times to change but kept getting told by workers no it is set time. Except when we came across Serena at reception she assisted us and organised our dinner time earlier. Staff should be aware of this issue and the resort should be flexible after all we are paying 5 star price.
Beach
Is shuttle bus away. It's is beautiful.

Major complaint we had was whole we were asleep on our first night at 10pm. We woke to our doors being unlock. My husband was half asleep but got to the door in time stoping these intruders from entering. He asked what they wanted but got no reply. 2 men wearing staff uniform speaking no English. We locked the door an rang reception to lodge a complaint and find our what they were doing entering the room. We could get hold of anyone for 20 minutes. At this stage we were terrified as we had no idea what the men were after and they had keys to come in. After a while we got thru explained got told no idea why the staff will be there at 10pm. Note the resort doesn't do room service so no explanation. We asked for a report in the morning as that sort of behaviour is unacceptable for a 5 star resort.
Next morning we still hadn't been approached so we asked to speak with the manager only to be told he is too busy and that a guest liaison will speak to us. No offence to her but she had no idea how to respond to us. No explanation was provided only that they shouldn't have been there. I think that says a lot about security and safety for this 5 star resort.
My opinion if you do visit this resort it's at your own risk. Don't expect the resort to take reponsbiity.

Dear Guest
Greetings from Pangkor Laut Resort,
Thank you for your recent stay with us and sharing this review. We do appreciate the positive introduction and please allow me to elaborate further with some facts:
1 - Serena is a senior manager. She is the Acting Rooms Division Manager.(Met Jan 17th)
2 - Nurul Is the Guest Liaison Manager.(The GL) (Met Jan 18)
3 - The 2 employees with uniforms are security officer and villa service.
4 - They went to deliver the Birthday Chocolate Fudge cake (Jan 17) requested during reservation.
5 - We have our control system and standards which allowed us to write above facts.
We always assume responsibility and think safety first.
Please accept our sincere apology as poor communication on a surprise birthday cake delivery and ended by bad experience.
Regards

We had a wonderful relax time there. The food was okay, but we enjoyed the spa, yoga, swimming facilities very much - this is what we went for! (With the residents package is great price!) Would go back!

Room Tip: Sea villa is an experience!

We first visited Pangkor Laut Island over 20 years ago. We knew that their was new mamangement and plenty of good changes. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and wanted to stay somewhere special. It is we believe quite special in that the Hornbills are still in residence and the Resort take great care making sure that visitors to the island take care also. The bats hanging around all day and of course keeping down the insect population for us at night. There are also some small monkeys who rarely bother you, they have much to do in the jungle! The giant sea lizards are fascinating to watch in the sea on your way to breakfast, if you take the boardwalk quieter option to eat. We stayed in a beautiful place on stilts over the sea.

When we stayed before that was some 20 odd years ago there was no T.V. or telephones in our accommodation, this time we went up a level we did have a telephone!

There are several restaurants to choose from and you can vary your eating very easily. There is also a beautiful beach, which is accessed by jungle walk, which is fabulous or by transport from many different stops on the resort side. The restaurant on the beach is only for lunch time eating and drinks whilst you are on the beach. You can choose to stay on your sunbed under the trees and eat or have a table and comfy chairs about 20 paces from your sunbed. You are provided with cold bottled water throughout your time on the beach, also in your accommodation.

We enjoyed the staff very much and their professional attitude to their jobs. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The staff are plentiful and I think that is what provides such a good relaxed atmosphere.

I did have treatments in the spa and I have to say each time was very special, if not a little expensive, but the ambience and quality of staff made the whole experience worthwhile.

Our stay was for 6 nights and that was just about right. We were also fortunate to have good weather.

Room Tip: My preference on each occasion has been the rooms on stilts. Quiet provided that it is not near the jetty.

Lovely resort to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a private island only accessible via the resorts boats. Check in is at resort's checking office on the mainland before the boat ride, where staff will label your bags and make sure they get sent to your room. Felt very exclusive where the staff really treats you well and always ready to help. Food was good at the restaurants too. There's nothing much to do on the island though. There is only one small beach which is accessible by the regular shuttles.

I first visited this place about 10 years ago and even then it seemed like paradise. I've been returning to this resort since and I have truly enjoyed every visit. Pangkor Laut is great for someone looking to just get away from it all. There are no shopping malls, no tourist traps. It's just pure relaxation.

Getting there can be a chore, but it's worth it. If you're driving from the city center of Kuala Lumpur, you'll need to head to this small town called Lumut. If you are driving yourself, you'll need to find parking in one of the many areas where you're allowed to park your car for several days. It's pretty safe but that doesn't mean you have to leave valuables in plain site.

Pangkor Laut has an office right near the docks. Go in there and book yourself a space in one of their boats. They have their own special boats that take you directly to the island. The trip to the island last for about 45 min and the seas can be a little choppy.

Once you arrive on the island, you're greeted by the very friendly staff who will then whisk you to your room to begin your wonderful relaxing holiday.

Bookings can be made online and the amount you pay includes all three meals.

This place is for those who are seriously into relaxation. There is a spa village that's also worth the try but really, if you don't do any spa treatment, this place is just as good.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, get the rooms that stand in the water. It's one of the best. If not get the garden rooms that face the ocean. The hill top rooms are great too but beware of the monkeys that travel to and from the jungle in the early mornings and the early evenings.
