We stayed for one night, traveling by car with family (4 year old child). Hotel is very new and has a modern interior design. Room and bathroom could have been cleaner. Staff friendly. Breakfast very basic. Sleep quality was good we stayed in a deluxe room. Would not recommend this to a friend, French hotel is the better option in Ipoh.

A modern hotel with quality amenities at a reasonable rate. Ibis styles ipoh was a gem of a find among several well known brands spread across this sprawling city!

Stayed for one night at their courtyard room - it was elegant, modern n cozy! Check in was above average as they had signed me up to le club accor. Thx anyway! I have to mention about the interior of the hotel is so chic and fresh with vivid colors mostly on furnitures, cushions etc.

Everything seem in good condition and perfectly well managed including operator, housekeeping and so on just a few tiny things like limited n not so various kinda meal for breaky and really hope that theres a pillow menu to be selected by client. E.g. Medium or hard pillow rather than depending on the bolsters provided and the super comfy bedding itself. All the best ibis styles ipoh, i will definitely stay here again! :)

Good points: 1. Large, well lit underground car park. 2. Welcoming receptionist who checked me in efficiently 3. Well designed quiet rooms with good quality fittings and comfortable beds. 4. Very pleasant roof top bar which overlooks traditional Ipoh shop houses and distant hills. 5. Good food served in roof top bar. 6. Excellent buffet breakfast served in nicely designed coffee shop with outside area for smokers.

Bad points: 1. Porters not well trained on lift operation. 2. Roof top bar waiter did not serve the correct food order. 3. Not all food available until 20 minutes after time breakfast should have started. 4. Tables not cleaned after guests left the breakfast room.

Overall: I would have rated this hotel 'Excellent' if staff training had been better.

Room Tip: Rooms quite small so twin bedded deluxe room better for two people.

I have especially taken note of your point on the porter service, as in ibis Styles Ipoh being an economy brand, do not offer such services. I have further checked and found out that the personnel who assisted you was from a different department rendering the service. Nonetheless, we have taken steps to ensure the staff be retrained in order to avoid such incidents in future.

As for the Mu Bar services, I will surely share this feedback with my team whom are young, new and eager to learn from mistakes and shortfalls.

This is the best hotel I had stayed in Ipoh,

A very stylist boutique hotel that opened early this year.

The room is very modern and comfortable. Staffs are friendly and the price is incredible for the quality you get.

If you are going to Ipoh, this is definitely your only choice.

Spunky new hotel with modern colorful designs. Rooms are not spacious but well designed for this price range. This is a great addition to Ipoh! To Ms Gill and staff, keep up with the attention to detail. Well done.

Stayed for one night in late March.

The good:
This is a brand new hotel with nice, stylish decor and good amenities for the price (except for the internet speed, which is capped at 512kbps - perhaps slightly too low in this day and age). The room's size was adequate for a budget hotel.

The bad:
Customer service left a lot to be desired. Check-in was slow and inefficient - we arrived around 4pm and had to wait for nearly 40 minutes to get into our room. The receptionist did not smile, communicated in commands ("You can sit", etc.) and noticed my Platinum status only after I pointed it out to her on the reservation form (which resulted into an upgrade to a "Studio" room).

We were given a voucher that promised a 50% reduction in the restaurant *and* the rooftop bar (on a bill of over 100MYR), which we decided to split between some light refreshments downstairs and drinks upstairs. The mains we ordered arrived with a 10 minute gap between each other and I have every reason to believe that the prawns in the "prawn paprik" were far from fresh. After presenting the voucher after receiving our bill we were informed that it could only be used in the restaurant or in the bar (since their billing systems were not connected, despite belonging to the same owner/hotel), despite the fact that it explicitly stated "redeemable in the restaurant *and* the Mu bar" (not "or" - the staff member called this a "mistake" on their behalf). Afterwards we decided to order some fruit, which arrived warm (!) and a club sandwich, which arrived without some key ingredients that featured in its description. To sum up - stay away from the restaurant, the service offered and the food served were both well below average.

The last nail in the coffin of customer service was a 10pm call from the reception - I was informed that Ibis Styles Ipoh had not received my payment (should have been forwarded by Accor) and demanded booking confirmations, etc. Surely this is something that should have been pointed out to us and resolved as soon as we checked-in. No apology was given for this intrusion.

Unfortunately, Ibis Styles Ipoh was the weakest link during our stay in Malaysia and this was only due to its poor customer service standards - staff and management have a lot of work to do before catching up with the rest of Accor family.

Brand spanking new, as it just opened beginning of the year. It definitely has a bright European aesthetic, which might be slightly displaced in such a retro, heritage corner of Ipoh. The place was very easy to find, with signage everywhere. It is just slighly off the main centre hub, but still within easy walking distance to many of the main areas eg Confectionary Street, street market stalls, night market etc. Just 5-10minutes by car is Ipoh Parade, Little India etc. We paid Rm130nett for a govt rate that included breakfast. Is more of a no frills yet stylish business hotel.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Central location
- Bright, lively compact ensuite rooms that were well appointed with all amenities.
- The front reception facade was great, almost cavernous which felt spacious and welcoming. The free computers were well placed, and a great boon for my kids
- Furnishings and decor were very European in style
- Great breakfast spread which was a fusion mix that leans more to European tastes
- Comfy beds, and love the bolster pillows which was a great personal touch. Extra pillows, blanket and towels provided speedily
- Interesting open concept within the ensuite for toliet and shower, which meant maybe two people could use it a time
- Free parking
- Fast and free wifi, and great mix of TV channels for a lie in
- Didnt have a chance to try the roof top bar, which was a shame
Cons
- There was a musty smell emanating from the toilet, which needs to be looked into
- No swimming pool or gym, given that there were lots of space.
No other complaints, and would definitely stay again in a hear beat, because of its young and funky ambiance.

Room Tip: Rooms with odd numbers on higher floors have great views over Ipoh and the surrounds
