“Never liked over spicy curries - they are now raided & closed by health authorities”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

Although almost all reviews raving about their addictive, I'm not a fan of spicy curry at this place. I only went there once and will never return. Their curries are hot, which can burn your taste buds. The place is not clean, in fact the guy serving the famous chutney dropped the spoon on the floor and picked it up to use again, until I raised my voice to stop him. He then picked up an new spoon. That itself gave me a very bad impression on this place. Their food is not as good as claimed, its just super spicy. Indian food is not about chillies only, its about taste. Anyway, this week the health authorities raided their kitchen and issued an immediate closure notice due to filthy conditions. You be the judge

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed October 30, 2013 via mobile

Great food as usual at Vanggey. We were there for a really late lunch.. 5.30pm but the famous red chicken and gravy still available which was good. Crowd however was lesser so didn't have to endure usual lunch queue that could be long and hot. One of the best places to eat in Ipoh and hope they maintain it.

“Tasty Indian Muslim food”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

There was a nice selection to choose from. The mango lassi was quite nice tho I find it a little heavy for such a rich meal. The curry fish was fresh and the curry sotong was cooked just right. Pricey for the surroundings and range of food but this seemed to be a popular haunt with office ppl. Location is rather obscure and unless someone takes you there, you would never know this place exists.

“Don't leave Ipoh without trying this !!”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

This is an iconic place to have lunch. Try the standard serving of rice, chicken, curry and the 'nyior' and wash it down with fresh orange juice and finish off with their signature egg custard. Best to dine in and find a table then ask for the food to be served to you. Avoid having the dishes separated from the rice, instead have the standard serving of rice with the dishes served on a single plate. You would likely order more rice or another serving of their standard combined rice dish. Use your hands to eat and try to sit near the windows to watch the drones of lunchtime customes.
