Stayed at the Kinta Hotel for 7 days. It is a new hotel and they seem to be unprepared to handle the surge of guests (combination of families, small business meetings and big conventions) - from check-in, housekeeping, dining. Even hotel facilities are not able to keep up - elevators are unreliable, wifi is 99% unavailable, our toilet was twice not functioning, improper swim wear (shirts/shorts) is allowed in the pool. One night, the alarm of our electronically locked door went off at 3:15 am - disturbing our sleep! For our convention, our brewed coffee was either sweet (I suspect sugar was already added to the big coffee dispenser as no sugar sachets were available) or instant coffee warmed up in metal pitchers - This is not even 3-star standard. This depressed me as I need good brewed coffee in the mornings. Palong Restaurant staff seem rude. Great Miner Chinese Cuisine Restaurant though is good - both in terms of food and service. Kinta management needs to wake up as their beautiful hotel is being wasted and ruined by bad service. If I have the chance to go back to Ipoh, I wouldn't stay at Kinta.
