“The Ultimate Honeymoon Experience”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

A hidden gem sums this place up precisely. As city-dwellers we never imagined we could experience such sublime retreat without having to travel a great distance. The scenic drive from KL to Ipoh held us in great anticipation and we were not disappointed. The welcoming staff was friendly and accommodating, always at the ready with drinks, hot towels and buggy rides. Everybody (and I mean everybody) knew us by name and was apparently briefed on all our special requests. I recommend the honeymoon package, which was inclusive of all meals, spa + facial treatments for him and her, special candle-light dinner. If you forgo these extra deals at time of booking, they would be very expensive individually esp. the meals and the spa treatments.

At the recommendation of the Reservations Officer, we stayed at the Garden Villa. We enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi and private swimming pool very much, particularly when we could see nothing but lush tropical greeneries and the clear blue sky around and above us. You can imagine the stars above your head at night with the scent of rose petals wafting in while relaxing in your natural hotspring jacuzzi (which they had at the most perfect temperature everytime). The swimming pool however is not heated but a brief swim at night in the tropics is no big thing. Massive comfortable king bed + wide selection of in-house movies.

The ala-carte meals were excellent. We could order and eat as much as we wanted. Some reviewers may say the meals are a bit too healthy? But to us the portions were alright and the choices, as limited as they were, catered to most discerning palates. We had 3-course meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the only restaurant in the retreat, the Pomelo.

The Spa was amazing. My husband and I were given the complimentary Adam and Hawa treatments had some of the best massages we've ever had there. On-the-spot prices are outrageous so better get a package inclusive of treatments. They offer everything from acupuncture to taichi to colon therapies to ayurvedic treatments to never-heard-of facial and body treatments. They do advertise themselves as a wellness and retreat spa so you'll be spoilt for choice.

The gym was adequate and immaculate. The outdoor trail to the Lost World of Tambun makes for good exercise in the morning with private entrance to the themepark if you wish to visit. Or you can arrange for a jungle walk but you will be escorted by security guards wherever you wish to go.

To me, what makes this resort so memorable is its exclusivity. When we arrived we were informed they were at 80% occupancy, but throughout our 3 days' stay we never saw a single soul. Either they were telling us a fib, or all the other guests preferred to stay in their own villas. It was like we had the whole place to ourselves. An intimate frolic in the main swimming pool and suddenly romantic music started to play, reverberating from the mountains all around us. You do feel like you're left alone most of the time but you are never out of their sight.

Perfect for couples as no children below 12 are allowed here. Do visit the crystal steam caves and the wine cellar. Non-alcoholic drinks are also available. You might think a 3-day stay here is too long and there'd be nothing to do but this place may and will surprise you. We would have extended our stay if we had not made other plans.

Special mention for Ms Liba, the hotel manager who we seemed to bump into all the time, at the restaurant, at the Spa, during our lovely walks at night - thank you for a wonderful honeymoon experience. We will definitely come again.

My family and I had a 3day stay at Banjaran resort. It's the most wonderful place I have been with individual swimming pool and jacuzzi to your own use! We like the room service where they bring our breakfast, lunch to your villa! Nice place to really unwind. Love the jungle walk. Aida who was at the registration desk was very helpful and nice! The massage and the hydro-bath was really good! Should have more signage pointing to reception desk because after my shower, I was lost! The natural sauna at the limestone cave was really good and after a good sweat, we tried the ice dipping pool! It was so, so, refreshing! We tried the Dr Fish pool where the fishes will bite your toes. Felt tinglish at first but after a while, you get used to it.You must try in the evening when the fishes are hungry for food! After dinner you must go to Jeff's cellar to look at the wonderful wine cellar! Really cool and astonishing place to be at! Food at restaurant should be improved especially on the quality of food served! The excuse they gave was, they try to give as healthy food as possible. But you can ask for Malaysian food too. All the staff there were very nice and helpful. Since coming back, I have been promoting to my friends that we have such a lovely natural resort in Malaysia itself!

Room Tip: I prefer garden villa because you can swim in the pool whole day whereas I think the water villa'...

Hubby booked 2 nights at the Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat to celebrate our anniversary. Was wowed by the experience! From the exclusivity of the resort to the natural scenic settings, everything was perfect.

In our garden villa, we had our very own private plunge pool, a separate open concept living and dining area, two vanity counters and a jacuzzi with option for geothermal water. We could even loan some movies to watch in the comfort of our villa.

A truly beautiful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the resort is surrounded by limestone caves and you can get to experience this at Jeff's cellar which belongs to the owner and is open for a few hours each night for guests to explore, the crystal cave or the meditation cave where you can meditate in natural surroundings.

There was a steam cave which is heated by the natural hotsprings as well as what we found very unique, the ice dipping pot. This is like a huge pot which is filled with cold water and you can have more ice poured in to make it even colder. It is supposed to be good to get into the ice dipping pot especially after having gone to the steam cave where your pores get opened.

And we also saw some bright green huge jungle butterflies too... And not to mention, the food at The Pomelo restaurant boasts healthy food amidst surroundings that seem as if you could be in Japan :) and you also get to relax at the spa.

Heard about Banjaran in the TV. Eventhough i'm from Ipoh, i never knew that this place exist. After knowing about it, i went for a drive there but was stopped at the guard house as i had no prior appointment. It's a five star spa and you can't even enter for a drive without an appointment. So, during last Hari Raya Haji, i made an appointment there. I wanted to treat my mom so i think it would be a great bonding session going for a spa treat with her. After having my car parked, we was welcome by the receptionist and straight taken to a buggy to the spa. We was advised on which spa treatment to take. There are whole range of spa treatment, from massage to manicure and pedicure. While they were preparing for our treatment, we were told that we can enjoy all the facilities there which include fish foot spa, the hot spring pools and the steam cave. We tried all, and while taking a dip in the hot spring pool, my mom told me that before Banjaran was develop she use to swim there with my dad. We met the GM of Banjaran while strolling around the herbs garden, she was very friendly and welcoming. The scenery there was spectacular, just sit, relax and unwind. After relaxing for a bit, it was time for our massage treatment. The treatment was fabulous! My mom was asleep the whole time. After the spa treatment, we had a free lunch at the Pamelo and it was time to leave. We left around 4pm, and yes we spent the whole day there. If you happen to be in Ipoh, do visit Banjaran. It's a perfect place for a romantic gateway for couples too!

We stayed for 3 nights this time in a Garden Villa and had a mostly excellent stay. Within minutes of driving in we started to relax. The villas are private with a great pool. Our pool got midday sun so stayed warm enough for a late night dip - just warm enough!
The food was great, had we stayed longer I think we would have exhausted the menu though. The chocolate cake is highly recommended.
The spa was excellent, very good service and massages even with a huge storm raging overhead I managed to drift off.
There was a negative though, we booked what was advertised as a child free resort, only taking children 12 and above. This isn't the case. There were many children including toddlers staying at the resort and they did disturb us with their noise by the pool and in the restaurant. Such a shame!

Room Tip: Garden villa

This resort deserves its ranking as one of the best spa resorts in the world. The grounds are amazing, the rooms spectacular - my favorite is the garden room type B because of the larger plunge pool - and the spa experience is great. All the other amenities offered are wonderful as well, particularly the Crystal Cave which is a great place for a private dinner witH a group of friends or clients up to 14 participants. If you come to the resort in the rainy season you could be confined a bit but the rooms and the spa will keep you happy!

This is a real gem in Malaysia.

By far the best resort that I've ever stay locally. Great service, spacious and well designed villa, variety of relax facilities. The whole resort is built in a valley that has nature hot spring pool and many caves with different purposes. Great choice for us to chill and just enjoy some "me" time. One night is definitely not enough for us. Bravo to the team!

Service; We were welcomed by the Resort Manager personally. We were met at the car park and being escorted to the check in area, given a nice lemon grass drink and cold towel. The check in was brief and fast. We were then given a detail orientation on the resort. All the staff are warm and helpful.
In Villa: You will have a spacious Villa with a big private pool and hot spring jacuzzi. Comfortable super king size bed. Have a spacious living area for you to do some reading while chilaxing in the villa. Very well designed architecture. To add a local touch, i love the "labu sayung" and we actually bought 2 back home to store water.

Activities: You have the thermal cave which is very good for sauna, a hot dip pool, meditation cave, crystal cave. Outdoor hot spring dip pool with shower that allow you to adjust the temperature according to your liking. Fish spa pool. Do try out the spa, it is good!

Food: Not much variety and pricey so we went out to the city to have our dinner. We had breakfast in the main restaurant, not much selection but food are decent though.

Highlights: Do visit the Jeff's cellar (a cellar built in a cave!), it is a unique and nice place to chill in the evening. We have a good time there but it would be better if they serve fresh juices, OK i know its a cellar but i am not a fans of alcohol.

A very relax and pleasant stay! I will definitely be back and make sure I stay a minimum 2 nights.

Room Tip: Garden Villa will be of good choice!
