Stayed 3 nights 1 - 4 Dec 2011 while attending a conference with my husband. Overall impression is good, but I did read previous TA comments before traveling & do agree with many of them. We stayed in Room 718 - deluxe king, over looking the Lake Gardens & opposite the State Mosque. We live by a mosque at home in Penang & sleep through the early morning prayer call, but here we were woken up each morning @ 5.30am...... & we accept that living in a muslim country, we have to accept their lifestyle.
Check in & check out were both polite & easy. Lobby is by lifts to floors & from car park, so not far to roll our case.
Decided to do a good & bad list for the hotel, so lets get the bad out of the way first:
Room - clean (on the whole) but in need of dire refurbush. Dirty walls, red stains on carpet, carpet had probably never been vacuum cleaned, cracks in ceiling coving, only 1 armchair & footstool - both with biro marks over. TV reception for satellite & in-house info service was poor, but was clear for terrestrial channels. Hairdryer was 1200 watt & dried my short hair eventually. No room binder/hotel info pack, so we had a lot of guessing to do. Tears in both duvet covers placed on the bed, & 1 had pale red marks on it.
Bathroom - only 2 bath towels. We managed OK, but some of my friends had to sign their life away to get hand towels.
Wifi in room - very very slow, then occasionally we got a good connection....before it dropped out.
Bar service - sat using our computer for nearly 25 minutes before my husband went to the bar to order our drinks.
Asiatic (??) coffee shop - very slow at clearing & resetting tables - especially during breakfast when nearly 400 delegates & other guests wanted feeding. Same breakfast buffet each morning.
Room & bathroom - lots of mirrors & very good lighting. Ideal for putting on makeup & doing hair (hairdryer is located at dressing table).
Room - loads of 3pin electric sockets, desk & chair plus separate dressing table & stool. Lots of drawer/shelf/hanging room - sufficient coat hangers for our 3 night stay of clothes. Room was of a good size. Safe was small, but it took a MacBook Pro 15" OK.
Bathroom - large, with separate bath & shower. Sufficient vanity space for our toiletries, plus electric shaver/toothbrush dual voltage socket. Toiletries replenished daily. Shower - powerful & hot.
Wifi in bar & coffee shop area very good: almost as fast as our home connection.
Public areas were clean, & its non-smoking which is lovely.
Other odd comments:
Pool - towels provided @ pool area. Only a few sunbeds, so 1st come, 1st served.
Business centre - located at lobby level, despite signage (& staff) saying its on mezzanine level. Can only print documents for you if it is on a pen/thumb drive - have no means (as far as they let on) of connecting your notebook to the printer or their network.
Car parking - in basement & is FOC for in-house guest.
Local shopping malls are very poor - only suited to locals.
Easy walk to & round Lake Gardens.
Seremban museum is about 3km away & is worth a short stop if you like local archaeology, architecture & stamps. Its FOC entry.
Hotel has 2 non-smoking floors: 7 & 11 (which is one of the Club floors). We specified non-smoking when we booked up.
