We chose the mangrove boat tour with Dev's Adventure, due to all their positive reviews here on TA. We're happy with the experience we had; the guides were very professional and knowledgeable, and our guide in particular, Shuhada, was also funny and very pleasant to be around with. She had an answer for all our questions and more. We saw a big lizard on the shore, the smalles owl in the world, baby dingos which were super cute, some monkeys, vipers curled on some branches and eagles.
There are good reasons to go with them: first, they're the only ones with access to a specific part of the mangrove swamp, second, they are ecologists, they do care about preserving the mangrove forests. Most of the other tour companies would feed the eagles with chicken skins as part of their tour package; chicken skins are not part of a normal diet for eagles, in fact they feed on snakes. According to Shuhada, the feeding show has affected the balance somewhat on the island, the eagles are now used to being thrown chicken at instead of hunting their food, and the snake population in increasing. For us that was reason enough to pick them, and it was time well spent on Langkawi.

We were picked up by van at the designated place soon after we disembarked from a cruise ship. Our guide Young was very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife and natural environment. Her explanations about the caves and the river were very detailed. She pointed out birds, animals and lizards as we rode through the river. We stopped at a beautiful private beach for a quick swim/walk. The lunch on the floating pier was very nice. There were several entree choices so everyone's dietary needs were met. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Our guide, Yong, was very personable and knowledgeable. We were very fortunate in that we were able to see a number of animals in their natural habitats. It was a good trip and we were very glad that we had the opportunity to make it. We especially liked seeing the eagles, kingfishers, and dolphins.

I went on the kayak trip through the mangrove forest. Our guide Mandy was very friendly and really knowledgeable. The place was incredibly beautiful, and it's such a unique experience being able to kayak through a little channel surrounded completely by mangroves. I loved it!

We booked the jungle evening walk and we were disappointed in that a good deal of time was spent walking through the massive resort "Berjaya". We did see a number of monkeys that were probably attracted by the availability of food from the resort.

Thankfully our guide was excellent and very informative about the flora and fauna. There was a fair amount of treking through the area adjacent to the resort. As we rentered the reort Sui really tried very hard to find a flying lemur and we finally were lucky enough to see one. I enjoyed her enthusiasm, but felt that this trip was overpriced.
