“Jungle Trek”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the Berjaya Hotel where we were met by Jerome. The walk began in the hotel grounds where we saw Dusky leaf monkeys and sleeping lemurs. As we entered the rainforest the heavens opened and we all got soaked! It rained throughout the walk which was not too taxing. Jerome stopped frequently and shared a lot of information with us, very interesting. We emerged from the forest as it got dark (still raining). Jerome pointed out lemurs, which after a while, glided over us. He also found giant red squirrels and pigmy squirrels.
We really enjoyed this experience but felt a little uncomfortable when our guide began the tour by criticising the hotel and how much they were destroying the environment. We don't disagree with his comments but some people on the tour were staying at the Berjaya and we were all tourists staying in hotels which had probably destroyed some of the rainforest in order to build.

“Kayak tour- great experience with a great guide!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

This tour was great as it covered many parts of the geopark and our guide, Kierin, very knowledgeable and passionate about the Mangroves and his job.The company did seem really Eco friendly as they were respectful of the mangroves and animals in many ways. I feel we could have kayaked longer, or maybe they could have a separate trip for those who want to kayak longer rather than seeing the other portions of the park. I had lots of fun and would highly recommend the tour.

“Mangrove world by kayak”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

We were a bit tired by the noisy tourist masses all over and decided to book a kayak trip. This is a cool nature experience! We first were shown a bat cave (shockingly, the bats are unprotected by tourists thoughtlessly flashing their camera lights at them all the time), a fish farm and then went off by kayak. We slowly glided through the mangrove forest and our guide Khirien explained loads of things related to plants, animals and this geopark area in general. We even had time for a swim. After the tour, we were served a delicious lunch which catered both for vegetarians and those not, and it was local food - not the kind of imported junk you get on a couple of the other islands. I'm certainly doing this tour again when coming back to Langkawi next time and would absolutely recommend it.

“Good Mangrove tour but...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

My Wife and I went on this tour on our trip to Langkawi last week. I had read good reviews about Dev's tours and therefore booked the Mangrove tour.

The tour was very good. Will recommend anyone in langkawi to visit the Mangroves in the Kilim geopark. Saw mud-skipper fish, crab eating monkeys, dingos - yes, there are dingos i.e. thats what they call wild dogs in Langkawi :-) . The visit to the fish farm to see the spitting fish was great.

The boat ride was fun. Lunch was good - We are vegetarians and had excellent veggie tomyam soup and veggie fried rice. Great considering it was a floating restaurant in Kilim river.

Our tour guide was Selva - who knew everything about everything and wanted to make sure heads were spilling with knowledge of the geopark by the time we finish the tour. Including solving the age-old conundrum - whether chicken came first or the egg came first.

The reason for not giving the excellent rating - While Selva was great at sharing knowledge, I feel he did not manage our expectations well. He set our expectations Sky-high when we started. i.e. That we'd get to swim on beach & see snakes etc. But we could not manage to do these two as there was low-tide on the day. If the expectations were not set so high, we wouldn't have been disappointed.

In Summary: Will certainly recommend the trip to Mangrove Sanctuary & the Kilim Geopark.

“Great bird watching”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

We booked last minute and had a private tour with vehicle, guide and driver. State of the art binoculars and telescope and a short stop for snack and drinks. We saw so many birds! The guide Shah was very knowledgable and great at spotting. We saw a nest of the great hornbill and the father bringing food. I recommend this trip if you are into birds highly.
