“Not a nice beach”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

I visited Tanjung Rhu beach many years ago, it was clean and nice, but the recent visit made me disappointed, because the beach looks so dirty and not well maintained.

“Best Spa in Langkawi”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

My wife and I went a bit Spa crazy during our week in Langkawi last July. We stayed at another hotel but had heard good comments about the Spa at Tanjung Rhu and so booked in for a "SHIRODHARA" treatment in a couples suite. This was the best massage treatment we have ever had. The Spa advises that "this traditional Ayurvedic massage, warm herbal oil/decoction is continuously dripped gently on the forehead (third eye chakra) from a specific height. The oil then streams down the crown chakra, which magnifies the senses, disperses negative electrical impulses that accumulate in the forehead from stress, reverses imbalances within the body, rejuvenates the face and renews the sweetness of life. Sirodhara is one of the most unique therapies available for reducing stress, enhancing cellular intelligence and immunity, and is very effective in resolving neurological problems, insomnia, stress and depression." Whatever, we felt on a high for two days and have talk regularly about it since. If you are in Langkawi, don't leave without trying this treatment. We didn't see much of the resort itself but it is on arguably the best beach on the Island, and beach access is exclusive to Tanjung Rhu Resort guests.

“Wow!”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

We stayed here for 3 days at the end of our week long stay to Langkawi. We are not typical 5 star resort travelers - we prefer small/boutique, but we were looking for an escape on the other side of the island away from it all and we succeeded. We were fortunate with low season too for the discount and we felt the entire time we were there we had the whole resort to ourselves! We loved having 3 pools and large grounds - spreads everybody out. They are doing construction on one of the restaurants, but you would never know it. We never heard a single noise. Staff are incredibly friendly (always greeting you warmly and with a smile) and accommodating (we arrived early and were able to get right to our room and able to have late check out for afternoon flight). We didn't have a single bad meal - all good. Cocktails were great and they have the perfect location for amazing sunsets. What surprised us the most was the beach - beautiful. We have traveled many places and this was one of the most scenic beaches I have ever had sand in my toes. The rocky outcroppings in the distance with the aqua blue water, white sand, and the most amazing sand bar at low tide. Unfortunately, the water is cloudy but it is just the nature of the eco system with a bay and mangrove river feeding into the ocean near by. Our room was over sized (80sm) which was great, but bigger than we needed for two. Next time we would stay in the smaller room, but that would only be if we visited again at low season with the discount. The place is spectacular, but the full season price is not something we would be willing to pay. Also, we did not do the all inclusive package and happy we didn't as breakfast was included and we found the meals were affordable and so were the activities (we kayaked twice) plus received 25% off coupon for massage.

“nice beautiful view”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

nice place to go if you want a beautiful view of the beach facing the Andaman Ocean yet less sports activities. During low tide one can walk to nearby islands

“re beach access”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

I havent seen the resort but I have been 5 times to this splendid beach over the last 3 years. This I arrive at 5pm and found the road bared by some newly installed security guide that explained that the resort owner has set up this. Access is now possible only during day-time. No sun-set watching anymore for non resort guests. I was and am quite upset. They say it is a security issue. I never noticed anything liek taht. There were always just ordinary people. I think it is just a measure to secure some exclusivity at the expense of ordinary people and most likely the locals that run some small business there. People who want to stay in the resort and enjoy the exclusivity should be aware that this is one of the few resorts of Langkawi where mosquitoes will bother you. Langkawi has usually very few mosquitoes because of the type of soil and rock that prevents the gathering of water that mosquitoes need for breeding.
