For just £25 a night (with no added cost), we got these -
A lovely double room with the most comfortable bed, ensuite bathroom with hot shower, AC, fan, a mini fridge (the room is cleaned everyday); all-day WiFi, unlimited cook-it-yourself meals in the well-stocked up common kitchen (tons of eggs, bread, butter, jam, coffee, tea and instant noodles and beers too); a verandah in front of our room;the Balei - the common area with comfortable chairs and dining area (for guests only); other guests whom we made friends with; four lovely dogs namely Lucy, Gadget, Reggie and Ben which also provide security for the already quiet and tranquil ambience, Melissa the cat, beautiful gardens facing the rice fields and hills; privacy where only maximum of 12 people can accommodate Pondok at the same time (the only non-guests spotted were taxi drivers). And most of all our new friends Rosidi and Marc. They go out of their way to ensure everyone has a good time, organise our car rental, tours, recommeding us where to eat etc. Cant wait to come back in November for yet another 3 wonderful weeks holiday!

As a first timer to the far east, my partner and I did a few research on the internet about places to go. We chose Langkawi for its charm and natural beauty of the island.
Pondok Keladi was our first choice of accommodation as we like the set up fo the property, next to the hill and overlooking the rice fields. It was pure bliss. And the lovely dogs added the charm. 'They' took us out for a walk and showed us around the undulating path towards the little fishing village.
Our room, Enam, six in English is located at the end of the block. Very comfortable for two people, with fan and AC, fridge and shower ensuite with hot water. It was cleaned everyday, beddings changed every 3 days.
The communal area was such a great place to meet other guests. There's a mini library where one can exchange books. We had a few drinks and meals with some of the guests. And the very well stocked-up communal kitchen was very very handy. Plenty of eggs, bread, coffee, tea and other essential. We cooked our meals mostly breakfast everyday.
And of course Dee and Marc who have created such a friendly and wonderful place. They go out of their way to make sure everyone has a great time. And we did.
Pondok Keladi has set a very high standard for a guest house in the Far East. We're not sure we'll find anywhere similar and special in our next travel...

It's generally ok, but I think a bit over rated here. It's close to a mosque and every morning for about half an hour or so you get the noise of the mosque calling Muslims for prayer and reading quran and all that. No offence to anyone but unless you're a Muslim that just disturbs your morning sleep. (don't stay close to a mosque in a Muslim country as a general rule) Funny part is that 4 dogs in the place tend to hoal during that.
Marc and Rosidini will offer you airport pickup. if you are not going to take that and decide to rent a car like me make sure you get detailed directions from them because there's absolutely no sign and getting there could be really tricky.
Renting a car is a good idea. It's really cheap in Langkawi and keeps you mobile in the 30+ heat and very humid weather while staying in Keladi which is a bit off the road.
When renting a car in the airport remember to 1. Haggle 2. Avoid Viva the cheap local car. Get a toyota or honda for a bit more.

we only stayed at Pondok Keladi for two nights but could have easily stayed longer. It's super relaxing and serene. There is a fantastic communal area where we sat, read and enjoyed some drinks. Dee and Marc really go out of their way to make sure you have a good time and the fully stocked communal kitchen was great, they also helped us out with booking our scooters. Only two drawbacks are perhaps the distance to walk to pantai cenang in the dark and the mosquitos! They really seem to like me and i did get bitten alot here (more so than the previous place we had stayed) There were mosquito coils put outside each room which was great but didnt seem to work for us!

This is a great place to stay offering very reasonable accommodation with all the essentials of AC, fan, fridge and shower ensuite. To get here from the airport is about 15 mins by taxi costing around 25 RM. The big bonus is that you can help yourself to basic food items in the communal kitchen area and cook up a feast! The place is very tranquil and at night there are all sorts of wildlife to see and hear. You may want to bring a pair of earplugs as the jungle noises can be pretty loud! The place is about 10 mins walk to the centre of town where there are loads of different shops and stalls including supermarkets. Car hire is very reasonable with petrol, compared to the UK, about one sixth of the price. Fabulous beaches very close by. Would we stay here again? Without doubt yes.
