“Run down but very atmospheric”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

The buildings are in a desolate condition without maintanance.
It looks like an ancient site, but unfortunately the infos about rice is quite poor. Skip this place if you stay in Langkawi only five days.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

it's really so nice place and it tell you too much about the history of the Malaysian agriculture, they show also a lot of the old tools what they was using ,there's a nice restaurant beside the gate ,but i don't know why there's not too much people visit it although it's free of charge .

“Rice Museum in Kedah is truly worth a visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2012

Appreciate the beautiful artwork while relaxing on a sofa in the round rotating gallery.
The mural depicts local scenery around the paddy fields nearby and is really
wonderful. For a fee of RM3.00 it is really worth the visit. There are various
types of rice and its explanation and the methods used for harvesting. The
building is really nice , however the charge of RM0.30 to use the toilet is not
really nice especially if the toilet is not that clean.

“It is still open”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012

It is easy to understand why one might think the place was closed.

There are two entrances; one you park on the street and walk into the complex over a small bridge and second via a parking lot. We arrived via the latter and the place did seem closed. A small restaurant-cafe certainly was. The actual heritage museum is in a different part of the complex. It is a matter of following the signs. Before doing so, be sure to climb the stars to the top of that cafe building. It has small rice fields growing on the roof itself (each differing stages of growth) as well as good views of the rice fields that surround the complex.

The heritage centre had no staff on duty but the signs with in both English and Malay. They were interesting enough and we were glad to have visited there.

The herb garden has shrunk somewhat from what the information sheet suggests and has Latin and Malay names rather than any English ones.

We did not have time to try the restaurant that was open - it is open terrace, colonial styled building. So might be worth a visit.

I don't know if it is open or not. We went there in the afternoon and the place was quite dead.
