We have been at Rebak Island in January 2009. It was very relaxing, peaceful, quiet and we enjoyed the extraordinary service. We rooms are very spacious, clean, cosy. Also the complemantary canoe rental kept us busy for an afternoon.

One thing was strange however...there is a restaurant the the marina which seems to be run by the resort as well. Prices and variety of the food are different from the food at the resort. We were however refused to be served there - by order of the Rebak Resort Management as we were told - only for skippers. Well...

Thank you for posting your views on your stay with us.It is a pleasure to learn that you enjoyed your visit.
The Resort also operates a Marina and certain facilities are designed to serve the Marina Residents. The Restaurant which you had visited is one of such facility where the service design is different from the Restaurants which cater to Resort Guests.

Samir

very pleased with the service...they staff were all very polite and kind.

the rooms were very good...very clean and comfortable.

the pool and the beach are very good...service always ready to serve and bring anything one desires.

even though there is no internet in the rooms, there was enough wireless connection anywhere else in the hotel, which is perfect for a holiday.

the transfer from rebak to langkawi mainland is also very good...many activities are offered which were of value and high standard. we tried the island hopping and the langkawi tours...both amazing.

the only downside of the hotel is that it is very quiet so if anyone is up for music and a night out this would not be the place for him/her.

overall amazing hotel...

Myself and my Malaysian girlfriend stayed at Rebak for a week during January this year.

We chose Rebak, because I felt it offered great value when comparing to the other resorts in Langkawi.

Upon arrival (having been delayed by Air Asia for 4.5hrs from KL) we had a lovely warm welcome, and after a complimentary drink were shown to our Deluxe Sea View room...(we had originally booked a room with an outside shower), but having seen the room (the outside shower is visible from above !) ....we chose a top floor room....

The room was beautifully clean, well furnished and everything we could have asked for.

The pool is great, the beach a step away, the resort clean and very relaxing and the boat transfers worked great for us....and occasionally we were able to share a staff boat if we wanted to return later (as long as there was room for us!!!) ...so ask before you leave for the mainland !!!

The bar also is great, with a very surprising selection of quality liquors... :-)

The only very small downsides I can point out are:

The service was always friendly and polite, but occasionally some members of staff were a little less talented at English...and had to ask a few times to get things right.

The staff at the Spa (I am told by my girlfriend!!) are not quite as experienced as you may wish for...so her manicure and pedicure were not up to standard.... personally I would recommend going to Teratai in Pantai Cenang....great massages and reflexology and manicures / pedicures etc... and it is cheaper....sorry Rebak !

The gym is a very small room, with very old equipment....stick to swimming and running !

The A La Carte food was great (I ate Malay only tho) although the buffet food was average I would say....mind you compared to the food and cost of eating at the Sheraton's - Captains grill... it was fantastic, do not go to the Captains Grill !!!

For a mainland restaurant you should not miss....go to Matahari....simply fantastic Malay food, service and atmosphere.

That's it...hope that helps everyone, i used tripadvisor to choose Rebak and it didn't let me down.....and lastly I would like to also say a special thanks to Lopez...who really did make our stay so easy and enjoyable.

We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the Taj from start to finish. Very helful staff guided us from the langasuka port jetty to the island and to our beach front room. Care was taken at every step to make this an enjoyable experience. We had requested a ground floor deluxe beach front room for beach access which was provided - think it was room 406 which is very close to the pool as well. Definately worth every penny, as the room is spacious with all comforts of a four star. Ofcourse as we learnt that comparable hotel rooms on the main island would go for atleast 30% more this was a steal. Breakfast was included, and the spread was above average, with champagne, fresh juices, good variety of vegetarian and non-veg. They have a decent library of DVDs at the reception. The island is 15 mins boat ride away from the main island which is painful if you have to leave for your early morning excursions but is also a quiet peacful getaway. But you need to spend atleast five nights here to experience every bit of the hospitality that this resort and its surroundings have to offer. The staff is polite, curteous and helpful. Only dis-advantge is six free jetty rides throughout the day available to the main island - I would recommend you take a package with free transfers for convenience. The romantic dinner by the beach is a good idea for a romantic couple. Food wise I would recommend indian and malay food as the chef is really good (and i'm not just saying that because but i like to try different types of food when i'm traveling but being vegetarian there are limitations). Italian was ok, but other oriental food was decent. The general manager Samir Khanna is on his toes most times making sure everyone is having a good time. Chandra on the reservation desk also helped us make up our mind on the package. I would recommend Langkawi Coral for the tour to coral island, the hotel can helo you make all reservations. Discounts for group of 4+ are available so you should ask for them. Also we rented a car to tour the island and that allows you to visit some far away beaches like Tan Jung Rhu. Underwaterworld was fun, but you should try the cable ride a lil further away from there too. Oh yeah and dont forget to go to the mangrove forests, I would recommend a private charter for this one with kayaks thats allow you to go closer into the caves.
