Arrived to find we had be upgraded to a Superior Room, which was lovely and had a balcony overlooking the pool and out to sea. We were given a tour of hotel and facilities once we had checked in. Room was very clean and comfortable. All staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was varied with plenty of choice. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. Unfortunately the spa wasn't open so unable to comment on that but I believe it is due to open shortly. The beach was kept clean by the staff (we experience a storm whilst we stayed and the next morning the staff were out early cleaning up the debris that had been wash up). Pool area was clean and cushions for sunloungers, were available. Should be note that it is a 10 walk into Pentai Cenang from the hotel. However there are several great restaurant close by.

The pools were very blue and clean and the jacuzzi (while not heated) was relaxing. I had a standard room which was clean, but definitely not upscale. It had a fridge and we were given two bottles of water a day which was nice. Included breakfast buffet was quite good. Activities at the beach include jet skiing (150RM/30min), para sailing (130RM/trip), and kayaking (35RM/hr). Be warned that the surf when returning back from kayaking will probably tip you over.

Like the other reviewers, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place more for families and people who are looking to have a quiet time rather than those who may want to enjoy more nightlife. The pool closes at 8pm, the jacuzzi at 7pm. The bar stays open till midnight, but it is rather deserted.

Good value for a quiet stay and enjoying the beach/pool. Spa was not complete yet, so no comments there.

4 nights Oct 2010. We booked a Sea Front villa and it was perfect and near the salt water pool. Both pools and the beach were all great. The outdoor shower was a nice treat . Room/Hotel were very clean. Good breakfast which was included in our package. Bars and restaurants were about a 10 min walk. The island was a bit quieter than I expected but we had a great time and it was perfect for relaxing. We booked a package through the hotel and got a great price.

Stayed for 3 Days 2 Nights in Garden Villa room in October 2010.

Positives :-

1) Beach frontage cottages and Private beach
2) Excellent swimming pool with good pool service
3) Heritage & Green ambience for the Resort
4) Outdoor Bathroom is a special attraction
5) Courteous staff
6) Lot of importance on Green environment.
7) Extend your stay for 4~6 hours with RM60 extra.

Negatives :-

1) If you are not opting for Sea view villa then it doesn't make much difference from Garden Villa or a standard room. Std. room comes at a cheaper price.
2) Buffet Breakfast is not that great with less choices if you are a foody
3) The lobby need to have some airconditioning since we find the staff in reception always sweating
4) The price is slightly high when compared to the facilities provided. You will get a better deal else where.check out.

Suggest to rent a car to go in and around Langkawi. The hotel staff will assist for the contact details of Car rental.

7 wells is a nice place where you can swim and cooll yourself with a natural glide on the rocks. It is painful to climb for 15~20 minutes

Liquor is very cheap in Langkawi. Better to buy from outside and chill out at the beach.

Thank you very much for having spent your holiday with family at our resort. We are delighted to learn that you had an enjoyable time. We hope that this experience will encourage you to return to us soon. Our sustainable development policy encourages conserving energy and reducing waste, hence the reason for limiting air conditioning to guest rooms and sensitive areas only. This resort is situated in a really ideal spot, beautiful sea front, close to Pantai Cenang (the happening place) but yet retained it's own privacy and serenity. Unique rooms as most are in villa style (or should I say chalet). Huge rooms with most amenities intact. Only thing missing is the mini-bar but fridge is available in room so you can stock up your own drinks and cheap beer! Breakfast is adequate although I did expect more for the price the resort is charging. However, I must say they did make the effort to change the menu (hot food) every day (for all the 3 days we were there) and the freshly brewed coffee is to die for...heavenly! Now what is the most wonderful thing about breakfast is the setting/view. The tables are places at the terrace facing the sea and what a wonderful view and feeling with the strong sea breeze blowing whilst you enjoy a leisurely breakfast, amazing experience which will make up for any shortcomings in the food provided. Now, the not so good part of the resort. The resort looks tired, rooms included. Looks it age and it sorely needs to be refurbished. Cleanliness of room could be improved. Checked in very late at night so did not complain much abt the "not so clean" floor. However, the next day, after room is made up, the floor was still not swept (hair and sand on the floor) and mopped (tiled flooring) and there was a dead lizard (a few days old!). Made a complaint and the mess was cleaned up very quickly although the cleaner didn't looked too happy! Reception staff should also be trained to handle reservations and bookings better. Couldn't confirm my transfer to airport (return) although sorted out with the hotel personally before arrival. Seems uncoordinated. Should upgrade their skills so as to give a good "first" impression. Lastly, although the resort is blessed with a beautiful sea front, the beach is not suitable for swimming as the waves are strong and not very clean. Although the staff try to clean the beach everyday, it was a lame attempt fm my observations as the rubbish was just swept into a pile (maybe for collection later?) and after a few minutes, they are all scattered again due to the strong winds. I also feel the resort is slightly overpriced although I managed to get a good deal from a promotional rate fm a tour agent.

Dear Taipei101

Thank you very much for your compliments of our beautiful location setting and resort facilities. We are delighted to learn that you enjoyed your holiday with us. We are constantly improving and will get better all the time. With regards airport transfers, we always encourage guests prior to arrival to book their transfers with us in our email confirmation. However, last minute calls made from departing airports are still handled accordingly. We are also happy to know that you noticed how we dilligently clean our beaches despite the monumentals tasks at times. The period that you stayed with us happened to be during one of Langkawi's seasonal strong winds providing our beach stronger waves that the amateur surfing community would enjoy. Thank you again for sharing your experiences and rests assure, we have our guests best interest at all times.

Come back soon!

we stayed at the frangipani for 4 days recently. we were arriving into langkawi by an early flight - being aware that the check in time is 3pm, we had requested for early check into at least 1 of the 3 rooms. this did not materialize on account of the resort being fully booked. however while we waited at the lounge for the rooms to be done up (well past the check out time of noon), no efforts were made to hasten the process to accommodate us, so much so that the rude receptionist had to be yelled at to finally get the rooms.
the room furnishings were very basic. the bathrooms were clean - there was a plumbing issue which was taken care of promptly. overhauling definitely needed.
breakfast was complimentary - the spread however was not very elaborate and lacked variety.
the tariff surely is on the higher side for quality of living and services - which is a major dampener.
the good part is the setting and location - by a clean and quiet stretch of the pantai tengah beach. the 2 pools and the jacuzzi were most relaxing.
the resort is in close walking distance from the underwater world complex and lots of eateries.

Dear mundiani,

Thank you for caring enough to write on our resort. We are pleased to know that you find the resort location as the best and that you loved the beach and liked the clean rooms and prompt service attention to your complaint.

Our check-in time is at 3pm and allows our maids time to clean the rooms from departing guests from 12 noon. We try to accommodate early guest rooms as much as we can but sometimes due to late checkouts from reluctant departing guests or full house, creates delays just like any other hotel establishment in the world. We continuosly make improvements to please our guests and regret that you were not able to get your rooms before the regular checkin at 3pm.

We look forward to having you return to us again.

We were very disappointed with the quality of the room here, given what they charge. we hadn't optioned for the cheapest room - we'd upgraded and to our surprise ours was right on the carpark and looked like it hadnt had a reno for many years, with chipped paint and broken tiles visible. the decor is a bare minimum, in dirty tones with overly bright lights in the bathroom which made it appear worse.
i wasnt happy about having the room on the carpark so requested nicely that we be moved. the staff werent happy about it but told us if we waited a few hours, we could move 2 doors down - no other option. We'd paid upfront so didnt feel we could get out of it.
The 2nd room was much the same, but we took it so at least we wouldnt hear cars and taxis constantly arriving and leaving the carpark at reception.
the food served in the restaurant was very average - the highlight being the beers at sunset. the view from here when sitting at the bar area is beautiful. the pool is pretty great too - we'd opted to pay more for a resort with a pool because of concerns about the stingers but we found there no stingers to worry about so we could've saved money and stayed somewhere that didnt have a pool. Checking in and checking out took a really long time - we had a long queue of guests both times and only 1 or 2 staff - so factor this in on your trip, especially when checking out.
Overall i wouldn't recommend this place given what they charge and the poor service you get. you're better off staying somewhere else with the same kind of location on a beach where the rooms are much better and the staff want you to be happy.
