“Perfect for Relaxation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2012

Nice place for a family holiday. It has a beautiful pool where you can see the sea while swimming. Was nice to sit on the deck chair under the palm tree's and the children had a fun time playing on the beach. Was advised not to swim in the sea while we were there because of jellyfish though, so better check with the staff before going in.

We thank you and family for staying with us. We are pleased to read your review which suggested that you had an enjoyable stay here.

It was a jellyfish season and there is a signage so guest will always beware and we try to cater the best for our guests.

Hope the jellyfish concern will not deter you from coming back here again at The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa.

We arrived late and looked forward to checking in - we had booked a twin room and were given a double - after showing the email where we had specified we were eventually given a twin deluxe room - only after being told we could pay for an upgrade for a twin room despite having specifying room type on our booking. We didn't have to pay.
The breakfast is worth paying for - a chef stands and makes eggs and pancakes which are tasty. The breads and fruit selection are tasty too.
The pool was quiet but nice to lie by and towels were given free for use around the pool and beach.
The beach unfortunately was dirty with lots of empty plastic bottles washed up which could have been cleaned up each morning.
The gym had no aircon and was very basic but did its job whilst we were there. More selection of free weights would be an idea.
This resort is basic and clean and no real complaints about it - the staff were friendly and facilities were fine - not a luxurious resort but nice place to stay for 6 nights.

Room Tip: Double standard rooms are very small - if you can upgrade do so.

Thank you for staying with us and your review. First of all, let us apologize for the booking confusion upon your arrival. We will highlight this to the concern manager so that the problem does not recur in future.

We do try our best to keep the beach clean as our gardener goes around clearing rubbish every morning. However, by noon the strong waves will carry more rubbish to our beach. One of our CSR is our quest against plastic pollution is by having our Environment Department giving talks to the public on plastic pollution and promoting No Plastic campaign in Langkawi. We hope that through our action Langkawi Island will be clean and green in the future.
We are happy that you find the satisfaction with our food and facilities and our staff will be really appreciated with your kind words about them.

We hope to seeing you again here at The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa.

Have stayed in Langkawi 3 times in the Pantai Cenang area and made the mistake of staying at the Lanai. We had stayed next door which was fine as we basically use a hotel as a place to sleep but the Lanai was something else; what a dive. We were coming off a month in various Asian locations and wanted our 7 nights in Langkawi to wind down on that island paradise. We were both disturbed about the Lanai and wandered into the Frangipani. We stayed for the remaining 5 nights in a garden villa closest to the excellent pool. Truly a fine place to relax. The resort is not 5 star and there are some signs of wear and tear but the whole aspect of the place is pleasurable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a stress free holiday with friendly, attentive staff. Loved it and of course Langkawi has the cheapest duty free liquor I believe of anywhere in the world.

Spent 3 nights in a beach villa which does what it says on the tin - direct access to a secluded beach and gently lapping sea, beach pavilion, sun loungers, great sunset view . . But the accommodation itself was in dire need of a makeover (some renovation is under way, but hadn't reached our shack yet!).While most things actually 'worked', it was all rather dilapidated. Perhaps this adds to the overall charm and ambience, which is certainly very relaxed. Good location, friendly staff, two separate pool areas (fresh and salt), food ok (dull breakfast, but good - if dear - dinner menu). . GM Jeffrey Goh does a great job chatting to guests on his daily walkabouts and knows the island well. Overall rather overpriced, we felt, given the state of (dis)repair and the quality of some of the other places on the island, but if you can get a good deal then it's a good base for a short stay and the shortcomings seem to fade as you relax . . ..

Room Tip: Some renovation is in progress. Beach fronting villas are that little bit more special but not worth...

Frangipani is located in an ideal position in Langkawi. You can easily walk around the whole day in the pantai cenang, pantai tengah area without taking the car. Considering the beaches and their accessibility around the island, this is the area you want to be.
The concept of the hotel is great, you can "adopt" a tree and eat delicious own grown fruit and vegetables. When I was there, some maintenance activities were on going. maybe this is why we ended up in a room quite old and not too well maintained (specially the bathroom/toilette). Food is just regular, and people working there are really nice.
The sun-set is breathtaking, and you can enjoy it from the beach or whilst resting in the swimming pool. Not a luxury resort, but you can get there an excellent value for money accommodation!

Thank you for your kind comments on our locality and the nice staff at our Resort while we are extremely happy to learn that you have such a good time here.

Our Green practice of having an organic farm and plant adoptions are one of the many ways for us to create awareness amongst our guests and the public who loves nature and concern for the environment.

During your stay here we were in the midst of upgrading one of our wings at Desa 4 to cater to guests’ needs for larger and more comfortable rooms.

We look forward to have another opportunity to serve you again at the fantastic island of your choice – Langkawi and to stay and experience the new ambience in one of our upgraded rooms at the Resort.

We thank you for choosing our Resort and the kind words for our staff whom will be very pleased to learn that their efforts and hard works are being appreciated.

In the soon to be completion of our upgraded deluxe rooms, besides being bigger, while we assure you that the air-conditioning unit is away from the beds, one will be able to enjoy an experience with the new ambience.

Nevertheless, we look forward to seeing and welcoming you again sometime soon.

We stayed at the Frangipani Resort for 6 nights and loved it. We chose the location because it's near enough to Pantai Cenang to go out to eat but just far away enough to be quieter. We had a garden villa and found the room had everything we needed and was very comfortable, air con worked well, room was well cleaned every day. Towards evening we sat and had a drink outside our room where there are a couple of chairs and a table, lovely being surrounded by the tropical plants in the gardens. The staff at reception and at the bar/restaurant were always friendly and helpful to us. The breakfast had a good variety and someone to cook whatever style eggs or omelette that you want, there is fresh local fruit, pastries, muslie, a hot selection and some Malaysian style breakfast. We didn't eat lunch or dinner at the resort but prefered to try nearby restaurants, our best meal was at Fat Mum's Restaurant. The beach in front of the resort was lovely, we noticed someone picking up rubbish each morning that washes in with the tide (plastic bottles etc), walking down the beach you could tell that this wasn't done in front of some other resorts. We really liked the pool area and spent a lot of time around there on the loungers and in the pool, we also swam a lot in the ocean which was lovely and warm and fortunately didn't come across any jelly fish. I recommend this resort and really don't have any complaints about it.
