“Beautiful place with poor service”

Only just checked out from this place a coupla hours ago, and i just could not wait to write a review. First impression was brilliant. A beautiful new resort on par with many other resorts we've visited in other parts of south east asia. However, we were hugely let down by the poor service. The staffs at the check in counter were slow and not very accomodating. When we tried to order food via room service, we were passed on from one person to another, and they seem to have difficulty understanding our orders. Cleaning stuff failed to clear our dirty dishes for 2 days, despite reminding them numerous times. Breakfast was ok, but the restaurant was overwhelmed by hordea of customers who were staying at the Sea village.

Bottom line, i feel like the beautiful resort is unmatched by their piss-poor service. It's like they've tried, but they gave up halfway. Such a shame..

Let me humbly apologize for the several inconveniences caused to your good self due to some apparent shortfalls in the quality of service and facilities during your stay with us. One of the things we pride ourselves here at Ombak Villa Langkawi is the high customer service standards we provide and I personally want to let you know that we are taking your feedback to our utmost important attention. I have discussed the issues you raised with all the associates concerned especially the issue reflecting bad experience service at the resort. I can understand how disappointing this must have been and I myself am disappointed to know that we have failed to delight our guests.

Thank you for highlighting the positive service elements during your stay. It was so nice to received your lovely comments that you have made about the resort. I will make sure your feedback will be attended and appropriate training to all Head of Departments and staff concerned. I agreed with all of our guests who said that it has been always the staff who make all the differences at least the warm smile that make you feel at home.

it was great hotel and the best hotel that i stayed during my visit to Malaysia,rooms are big,very clean,amazing location, good swimming pool, customer service are so good,this hotel is good for relax,
there 3 types of rooms i recommend to select Ombak Villa.

My title says it all. Ombak Villa is recently constructed resort, and as such, all its facilities are updated and new. However, the hotel management is terrible and chances are that they will screw this up very soon.

Upon reaching Ombak Villa, you are impressed with how beautiful this place looks (because its new). The lobby area is very windy and nicely shaded, it also had a great view of the pool. But the reception took 2 hours to check us in, which wasn't a good start already. While waiting, we went to eat at the in-house restaurant. The prices for local food there is expensive and it was terrible.

Upon entering the room, we are once again impressed at first, only to find that the pillows had a funky smell, and the bathtub had paint in it. 50% of the staff in this hotel can't speak very good English, so communication was a bit of a problem. We could not get the room service to come fix the lights in our room, and we had to fix the TV channels ourselves.

Room service was a little slow, but somehow the food was much better. Perhaps the chef is unable to cook local food.

There's not much to do in the villa, because the prices within in are all tourist prices - at 15rm for bike rental per hour I'd rather walk. There's also nothing else in the vicinity, so prepare to cab to the nearby beach areas or cable cars.

Oh and one day, when we were walking about the area, we saw a dead cat lying around. Ugh.

All in All, this is a 5 Star Hotel with 1 Star service. We enjoy parts of our stay, but you've got to be smart about staying here. Once again, go only while it's new before the management screws it up.

Arrived 2 hours earlier than stipulated check-in time, no welcome drink offered while waiting, but when we booked an expensive excursion 10 minutes later, suddenly our room is available right away so that they can charge excursion to the room.
Room not very clean- carpet dirty,there's a musky smell and cobwebs and dust everywhere, hairdryer does not work, no wi-fi, no daily newspaper as promised, very late cleaning everyday but on check-out day cleaners were outside room at 12pm on the dot and rang the doorbell a few times, yelling 'Housekeeping' at the top of their voices. Nonetheless, the room is nicely decorated especially the bed and pillows are very comfortable. An armchair or two would make the room complete.
Buffet breakfast is like cattle-feeding - tables were not cleared fast enough even when requested to do so, hence have to eat at tables alongside previous diners' dirty plates. Head waitress not welcoming, in fact made us feel like we are charity seekers when asking for clean tables to be seated at. Nonetheless, food is good - especially the pastries. The croissants are buttery and melts in the mouth.

Staff at reception and guest services are polite and the security guards are very helpful to get taxis for us.

Location is boring - nothing interesting surrounding it, not walking distance to anywhere.

We stayed 2 nights at the ombak sea villas as it was the only 5 star hotel available our particular weekend (aug8-10). From first impressions the ombak villas are impressive and world class (buildings & setting), however one should never judge a book by its cover. The rooms are reasonable as they are newish, however given the rains in Langkawi the wooden floors and lobby marble floor is extremely slippery, almost impossible to walk on. The hotel provides shuttles however don't bother calling them if they are busy as they either won't come or will take ages. Same goes for room service. Had to call 4 times over 1 hour to ask for some ice. We checked in fairly quickly (despite the very little english spoken by all the reception staff) however as soon as we got into our room we had issues. First my pregnant wife was shocked 3 times by touching the shower water taps. We didn't receive the free wifi as promised, and only after complaining were we given a wifi password. They were trying to get us to pay $25rinngit per night. Mind you we only got a 24 hour pass instead of 2 days worth. The shower head was changed fairly quickly however it was pretty scary to know that a non electrical component had electricity going through it. The buffet breakfast was an absolute joke. Nowhere near enough tables for all their guests, all the food had flies and mosquitos on them.. and ultimately a lack of variety on foods. 95% of the staff were just angry.. obviously overworked and they just seemed lost. Heaps of people complaining about various things.In general if you want quality service stay away from the ombak villas. Also given the location (on the muddy beach/lagoon) it is full of mosquitos!

Room Tip: don't eat at any of the hotel restaurants, avoid interacting with the hotel as much as possible...

Even in front of the lagoon, the lagoon is not a clean or nice place to swimm in. This part of the hotel is new, with great vieus.and a beautiful pool.
If you want to habe breakfast you better stand up early.
The rooms are big and confortable, but they still need to work a lot on service. It can happen that they dont clean the room in a day, that they don:t pic up the garbage from the pool or the stairs.of your rom.
