Owner description: Unlike other black-sand beaches, this sand isn't volcanic in nature but rather is streaked black by run-off from a nearby hot spring.

“Only worth a stop if you're passing”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Beach is pretty poor, not really black, the outlook isn't too bad. Some shops and toilets - the toilets are disgusting however. Don't bother making a special journey but if you're passing it's worth a quick stop.

“Interesting to see”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

The beach is a gorgeous stretch of sand with pretty looking boats and an interesting wooden jetty, good for photos.

The downside is the big cement factory on the horizon and the toilets were VILE.

“Disappointment”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

You can visit this "beach" if you are traveling to/from the north of the island, but it is not worth taking a trip to specifically go and visit it. As there is no beach, it is a strip of black mud with a lot of garbage around. The smell suggests that "black" is coming from the sewage...

“Black sand yeah right”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Black sand beach is boring and dirty. It looks like an oil-stained rubbish dump. Not worth the effort.
