A curious place that was once probably so good but now seems empty and lacking character and direction. There are some nice crafts here but it is a disappointment over all, I am sad to report. The glass blowing unit to the back of the complex is interesting and some batik painting in the inner hall (to left as you enter) is excellent.

In the area we thought we would pop in - so glad we did.
This place has been poorly described in TA as a mall of handcraft stalls but it is far more interesting than that. As someone else has remarked it has been wrongly catagorised under "shopping" when it should be under "attractions".

It is a large complex which has displays of various crafts. There are craftspeople showing you how they create their wares, which is very interesting to see (Batik people are very informative).
There are genuine handmade goods to buy - batik paintings and dyed fabrics, clothes etc all caught my eye... and good quality too, not the cheap tourist junk that is elsewhere.
A couple of very well designed museums to wander through too. The wedding museum was very good.
There is a cafe, but I never ate there
It is free entry

I think this place should be placed under "attractions", not under "shopping". Its definitely worth a visit if you have young kids who like doing craft and painting. They have lots of local art on display. The vendors are not pushy, which is good, and the place as a whole has a laid back feel.

The highlight for my family was the batik painting for kids - that was the main reason why we visited. Its really cheap and the kids get to create their own batik painting. We framed our 2 batik pictures when we got back to Singapore and they are now hanging in our living room.

We had lunch at the small "cafe" there. They served simple malay food at low prices.

And yes, this place is near Tanjong Rhu beach...so it definitely makes sense to visit both on the same day.

Half empty, not a lot of items to buy. The only good thing is a wedding and Malaysian museum otherwise, not worth visiting. It also seems that there is a lot of Made in China items for sale, so not a lot of genuine handicrafts.

Amazing that this sight seeing venue has free entrance...it's very informative and a huge collection of interesting items to look at. A real insight into Malay culture. And located in beautiful Tanjung Rhu....a great stop over on your way to the beach!
