We spent two nights there. The scene is fantastic, the beach restaurant is very good, the beach, swimming pool are good. Chalets need better maintenance, however it is still comfortable.
People are very friendly, service is good. English is not always spoken well enough.

Room Tip: Chalet number 1101-1108 over the water

We had 5 days here after staying for a few days on Rebak Island. A large hotel complex, bridged by the fairly reliable shuttle service, with "rooms" (more like villas/chalets) spread amongst rainforest and down on the seafront. We had a Rainforest Suite - lovely big room and well appointed. Walkable to the lobby and main restaurant. The various restaurants on offer were all good, but we particularly enjoyed the Beach House at lunch and the Thai restaurant at dinner. The hotel pool was large and although it had a lot of loungers never felt cramped, while the beach made for a refreshing change.
Whilst here it is worth a trip to the Cable Car (albeit we were slightly disappointed by the Oriental Village) and the hotel's Japanese restaurant.

Room Tip: We liked the Rainforest Suite - worth upgrading if you can afford it, whilst the suites on the water...

We came here for two nights and wished we had this booked for at least a week, I booked the chalet on the water and what can I say, it was amazing so perfect and watching the sunset and sunrise was a dream come true. I love how we managed to get the chalet that was the furthest on the water felt, it honestly took our breath away, I read a lot of negative reviews and was worried but when we arrived everything went so smoothly. beach was lovely, rooms were clean and great facilities we even had a go at jet ski which was amazing too!
just cant fault this hotel!! will defo recommend it to all i know!

Room Tip: book the chalet on the water worth paying the extra!!

Room is nothing really great....the air-conditioner was not working for the 1st night so we slept without air-conditioning which is a bit hot. So we requested them to repair the air-con on the next day and they finally did.

Bathroom has some kind of bad smell the whole time which I don't like the most. The people stayed next door complained about that too so it must be a problem of this resort.

Monkeys appeared at our balcony and trying to see if any chance to steal food. Fortunately our patio door was locked and my husband were not sitting outside which he always do. So we were safe.

We had our breakfast at the restaurant right at the beach which was very nice.

We wanted to stay at Meritus Pelangi but it was full so we had to stay here. I think it would be much better to stay at Meritus Pelangi plus Meritus is very close to the main town. But Berjaya is about 15 mins by taxi.

To conclude, with the money we paid, it's not that worth it.

BTW, PLS DON'T BOOK HOTELS WITH HOTEL.COM cos they won't give your money back from price matching even their staff had promised to refund the price difference back to my credit card when we booked the rooms with them over phone. Even I had sent several emails back and forth with them and they still refused to do so. And it's only $50. They just won't keep their promise and try to fool you. Can't imagine how they can survive their business by lying to customers. If they want to keep losing customers, go ahead. You know, business is about long-term and customer satisfaction. Don't know what their business ethics are. I will definitely only use expedia or orbitz in the future. BEWARE!!!

Came from Penang to finish our hols here, what a difference. Excellent location for chalet, good facilities eg beach, restaurants, tours etc. Clean room, friendly staff and some monkey guests around the chalet grounds. All in all an excellent 5 days and would recommend to any couple of any age ( we are 60 ish)
Try the harbour for evening eating, Italian restaurant superb with a lovely sunset view.
Island hopper tour good fun for those who don't mind getting wet, make sure you have enough film and batteries for the camera, plenty to snap at.
Would give this place another go in the future.

What can I say about this place... I would list it as one of the best places I've ever stayed at... It puts sandles resorts to same... The food is lovely here and cheap. Dinner for 2 people cost us under £10... Icencreams under £1.. even the beers r cheap compared to Kuala Lumpur.. half point cost 11 ring.. compared too 25 in Kuala lumpa...

Berjaya, in my opinion, was the best resort on the island. the minute you arrive in your taxi you get a warm welcoming feeling from all the staff working in the lobby and the beautiful decor and surrounds you enter.

Chalets
For a starter we were staying in tree chalets and in our opinion, the tree chalets were a lot 'cooler' and better to look at than the water chalets. the tree chalets are hidden in the dense jungle risen on big stilts most from a point where your high in the trees looking down to the water and surrounding islands. Our room was clean, organised and functional. It was a good size for a couple with a nice big bed, bedside tables, a desk underneath a mounted TV, a nice futon/couch and also a balcony with table and chairs. the bathroom is also beautiful with a nice big shower for couples and basin bench with lots of storage. we loved our room and the cleaners were always respectful and cleaned our room beautifully even on days where our stuff seemed to be everywhere.
Now, if you've done your research, you probably know that this resort and area of the island have many monkeys! This is very true, our first morning we had lovely guests on our balcony enjoying our morning tea with us. They are not aggressive, they are just curious. personally i loved their presence but obviously just make sure your windows and doors are shut when your away from the room.

Facilities:
Breakfast - Every morning we had access to the buffet breakfast in the main restaurant or in the beach restaurant (we were upgraded) but to be honest i loved the atmosphere of the normal restaurant. the staff are lovely and always smiling and the cook in front of you to your liking and are swift in taking your used dishes. plenty of yummy food, so definitely make sure you get the buffet breakfast packages during your stay.
Pool + Swim up Bar - absolutely beautiful setting. lots of room to swim and features a big waterfall to add a bit of fun. little kids tend to swim in the kids pools and there are not many kids in the resort so kids are no hassle. the swim up bar is fantastic, we had many fancy cocktails for about 20rm each (AUS $7ish) but theyre even cheaper during happy hour 14rm each (AUS $5ish)
Beach - To be honest we only went to the resort beach once as we were so busy all the time but also because the resort is so big it just takes a bit of time to get to and from the resort and sometimes is was just easier to go to the pool.
Shuttle Service - Like i just said the resort is quite large so you'll find yourself using the shuttle service a lot. There are many chalets spread over the water and through the jungle so you can call for a shuttle and catch shuttle to to various areas of the resort and the shopping village literally a 2min drive away. The shuttle service is free, so make use of it! but overall we found it very helpful.
Doctors Clinic - I had to go to the doctors clinic in the resort at one point due to being covered in sea lice bites (from a different island - don't worry) but the doctor was lovely and it was so CHEAP. I had an injection, got cream and tablets and it only cost me 50rm which is less than $25 Australian. so if you need something medically don't be scared to go to the doctor.
Transport Hire Office - we hired scooters for our holiday. One for me and one for my partner it only cost me $250ish + a $100 deposit (but you get the deposit back at the end) the scooters were great and reliable and fun to ride. and it only costs about 4rm to fill them up! ($2 aus) and we only needed to fill them up once on our holiday.
Lobby Shop - there is a souvenir shop in the lobby so if you need some yummy snacks or some drinks they are available there if you need.

Resort Restaurants:
Main Resort Restaurant - we were only there for the lovely buffet breakfast so im not sure what they were like for other meals.
Thai Restaurant - make sure you make an early booking a couple days in advance but its a nice outdoor eating area over the water in a similar fashion to the chalets and you can watch the sunset as your eating your dinner.
Japanese Restaurant - doesn't book out as fast as its based a 2min shuttle ride away in the oriental village and is lovely.

I hope i have covered most things, but overall we loved the resort and would suggest it to anyone. Particularly couples.

Room Tip: resort doesnt have an ATM so use the shuttle service to the shopping village 2minutes away
