“Wonderful resort, has potential to be even better.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2014

Stayed here for 4 nights at beginning of January. We stayed in a rainforest chalet as opposed to a seafront chalet and, as far as the room itself goes, exceeded our expectations. The chalet was on a cul-de-sac away from the hustle and bustle of the main area, so we were lucky in that respect. Despite the warnings on the door we, sadly, did not encounter any monkeys. The chalet was spotlessly clean, with a lovely, well-appointed bathroom and luxurious rain-shower. The bed was comfortable. Be warned though - the sound of various creatures from the rainforest can be near deafening but you will get used to it fairly quickly. The shuttle service which brings residents from their respective chalets to the main beach and dining area was reasonably efficient. You just press 4 on the phone and it arrives, although on one occasion they were quite late but that's being very picky. My girlfriend and I were celebrating a two-year anniversary and they quietly placed a cake in our room, which was an extremely nice touch. The pool is great too with a nice sunken-bar and comfortable deck-chairs, and it never gets too crowded.

The only downsides was the quality of the food which was a little disappointing as there aren't places conveniently nearby to eat instead. However, the Thai restaurant which is situated at the end of a long jetty out in the sea was excellent and staff there were extremely nice. The main reception area and dining areas could also do with an modernising upgrade as it is looking a little tired. The beach was beautiful too but unfortunately at the time of our stay, a swim in the water was frustrated by odd stinging creatures in the water, which meant we could not stay in for too long. Of course, this has nothing to do with the resort and I'm not sure if these creatures are there year-round or if they just like attacking Irish skin! Overall, would still highly recommend this resort if you want something a little different.

Room Tip: There are TWO rows of waterfront chalets running parallel to each other so be careful when picking a...

The Resort is stunning! The location is perfect!! We enjoyed our stay there. Our only issues were, our sheets and towels were stained and had to be changed and the shuttle service is extremely slow. Other than those things we loved it! Great views, food and staff.

Went there for 2 nights for our honeymoon. Arrived in the morning and were not allowed to check-in to the room until 2pm. Were sent to the bar for a welcome drink, which wasn't bad and then went back to the reception to ask if the room was ready. Room still not ready so we asked if we can go eat lunch (since we opted for all meals to be included in the room rate) instead of having lunch on the last day we're there. After checking with their mgr they approve and we're off to eat lunch at the Japanese restaurant (Mizumi) locatd in the Oriental Village. To get to this village - need to take a shuttle ride, which is free provided by the resort. Mizumi was a great restaurant serving freshly made food. I'm vegetarian and they even went out of their way to make food not on the menu. The restaurant called the resort for a shuttle pick-up and luckily it came after 5 min.

We checked in around 2 and again in a rainforest chalet, needed a shuttle to get to our room with the luggage. Waited around for a few minutes and it took us to our cabin. The outside looks outdated from the 80s and the inside isn't that big. The room looks tired and outdated. Could never get the right setting for the a/c temperature. There was always garbage bags full of towels/sheets lying around in front of our cottage or on the balcony. Shower went from cold to hot instantly and could never get the right temp. There is no line to hang wet bathing suits in the bathroom. Bathroom was relatively small and showers weren't as clean as imagined. Our sheet had a coffee mug stain on it and never got changed out.

Somehow we received complimentary drycleaning for 6 pieces of clothing/day (they picked up dry cleaning within 5 minutes and promptly delivered early the next morning); full use of the mini-bar once w/o paying; 80 RHS worth of water activity at the resort; fruit baskets twice and few other extras which was amazing! Never received so many complimentary items before at a resort. (I would've given 4 stars just for this!!)

The room was located in the rainforest and monkeys can be seen everywhere in the early mornings. A shuttle does need to be called to goto the main reception every single time (which can be a pain). Walking to the main resort is possible, however they give you no maps/layout of the resort so can get lost if your room is farther out. A wedding was happening during our stay and shuttle service was slow/forgetful. At one point we called in twice for a shuttle pick-up for dinner and for check-out we waited around 20 minutes. The resort should look into increasing shuttles / buggies when hosting events as there isn't enough transport to go around.

Breakfast for vegetarians was mediocre - not too many options for warm foods at Berjaya Cafe. Berjaya Cafe was very catering when we asked for takeaway garlic bread, spaghetti and pizza to take with us before going jet-skiing for lunch. Had dinner at the Oriental Pearl & Panh Thai and again great food and accommodating for vegetarians. The all-inclusive was a great idea and def worth it.

The swimming pool was nice, had drinks during their daily HH and it wasn't too pricey.

Overall a pleasant trip, however if you don't like waiting around for shuttles to take you from point A to B, then this isn't the place for you. Before booking ask if they have any events happening. I met a couple who were checking out of the resort because it was too crowded and the shuttle wait was too long. One person waited over an hour at his room for a shuttle for check-out and then the airport.

Room Tip: If you don't use up the 80 Ringgits on their water activities, they'll credit this to your r...

an ideal place for that perfect honeymoon filled with peace and tranquillity. We came here soon after our wedding and it was theeeeeeee place that we needed after all stress we had to endure during our wedding planning process. We booked the premier chalet on water and it was simply perfect.

Really friendly staff coupled with excellent service is more than what money can get you. Ideal for 5 to 7 days and anything more, the novelty wears off. Not far from the airport (20 mins) and Chenang beach (35 mins) and is located away from all the hustle and bustle.

Room Tip: Premier Chalet on water best views are from room number 1500 to 1520

Over all stay was 4/5. This hotel was lovely. Views fab, so close to the great Cable Cars, beach wonderful, restaurants mostly lovely, location was really lovely and overall it was a unique experience - you wouldn't get anywhere else! There were a few minor problems - however if they didn't happen we would have given hotel 5/5, such as; not helped with luggage when we arrived, a few lunches weren't the best at different restaurants and don't think the staff always deserved the 10% service charge which is automatically applied to your bill for everything. On the other hand, we were here for our honeymoon and so many special little touches were done throughout our stay; such as shaped towels, chocolates delivered and honeymoon cake. Really nice! Would come again. Tried the spa, bit disappointed that everything was separate for males and females, so couldn't really enjoy steam room and sauna as a couple when we were by ourselves. The massages we had were great though. We had Premier Chalet which was well worth the money. It was a shame they couldn't provide us with a double bed (instead we have two beds pushed together) and bedside lamp couldn't reach plug, so we couldn't use. Room layout lovely and views great. Shuttle good, never had to wait long. It's easy to walk if you didn't want to rely on shuttle all the time.

Room Tip: If you can spend a bit more for a seaview room, beautiful. We loved the Premier Chalet.

we stayed 3 days at Berjaya, Langkawi. I have a great travel experience, but hotel impressed us a great, quality service and very warm welcome.
Really really recommend this hotel, great location..!! My only complaint about this hotel - free internet connection was a very slow although wifi signal strength was good.

We will be going again to Langkawi, and will be staying at the Berjaya Langkawi again.

The wild nature is perfect, but the room facilities are old. One shelf fell down suddenly in the midnight.

Service is good and sweet.

The personal sandy beach is a little small, and we do not really know well about the projects or performances of the hotel. If the front desk can tell us more information with one paper, it is better.
