For the most part we enjoyed our stay in the Rainforest Chalet. The hotel was booked via wotif.com as their mystery hotel and was a saving of about aud100 per night than if we had booked directly and our package included the buffet breakfast.
We used the hotel airport pickup service for the 6 of us plus infant and the cost was around Aud16.00 per adult in a mini van large enough for all our luggage.
Check in was very friendly and we were taken to our chalet via the shuttle. We found for the most part the shuttle service was quite quick with only a few times when we had to wait about 10 minutes.
We dined the first night at the Beach restaurant however found the service extremely slow considering that there were not many people there. As we were a group of 6 we found that couples that had arrived well after us were being served their meal before our orders had even been taken. After going up and asking for a waiter to take our orders we still had to wait another 15 before someone came.
The service for the drinks was slow as well. The food came out at staggered times so we had 2 people finishing their meals when others at the table had not received theirs yet. This at a time with only 4 other tables in the restaurant were occupied.
Once we complained to the Maitre D that the chefs were standing around talking and we still had not gotten our meals the service was improved but incorrect meals were then served but rather than wait any longer we just ate them.
When this error was pointed out to the Maitre D he then had these moved off the bill and also removed from the bill 1 drink per person.
The breakfast buffet was quite good and typical of many Asia Hotels with both Asian and western foods. The restaurant was located down a long flight of stairs and we couldn't find a ramp or lift to get us to this level as we had a infant in a stroller with us.
The hotel supplies a free shuttle to the entrance of the chair lift but only supplies it one way. We found it a very hot walk back which took about 15 min.
After going to our next destination I found I had left 2 pieces of clothing in the wardrobe so I emailed the hotel to ask them to confirm they had them. After waiting quite a few days I had not received a reply so I emailed them again. I received a reply to say nothing had been found. I know definitely that I left them there, so was very disappointed that they didn't seem to care that they had gone missing. I asked for this to be escalated up to the manager however it now a month later and I have still had no reply. Its not so much the value of the clothes as their attitude that they couldn't care or some of the staff are not honest.

Room Tip: Be sure to go up the nearby chair lift. The view from the top us just amazing. As its a very popular tourist attraction if you get there early about 9.30am you will avoid the long queues.

We were upgraded from a Rainforest chalet, and it has been a great four nights. Our chalet looked out over the water onto a small island. We also had a great balcony to relax with this view. A huge sprawling complex, we were close enough to walk to the pool/lobby/beach which was a great advantage. This is the rainy season, however, we only lost one day to weather. Taxi are cheap and plentiful, however, this is probably the best location on the island. The Thai restaurant at the far end for a romantic sunset dinner and the beach restraint for a lazy late lunch.

The Berjaya Langkawi may not have the luxury status as other hotels on the island but it has the real feel of being close to the jungle.
We arrived at 1100am and the lady at reception upgraded us from Sea View bungalow to a premier chalet. The bungalow are close to the sea with great views and much bigger then the sea view. They were kept very clean and the bathroom was huge. Ok maybe not as luxury as the Four Seasons but the premier chalets have a great views and also you are surrounded by the jungle, monkeys, lizzards, birds and the sea. Great feeling.
The SPA is new, I had a massage, very professional. The SPA is very well situated at the very end of the resort with stunning views and outdoor pool.
The beach is very good, many sunlounges and nice place to relax. it is a 4 star resort so don't expect someone to bring you a drink on the beach.
The pool in my opinion is too small for the resort,it has a very crowded feel.
The Breakfast is a let down, especially in the bug restaurant, it is a train station with low quality offerings. try the beach restaurant for breakfast, less choise but better service.
We had 2 dinners at the beach restaurant and the food and service were completely acceptable. The views are great, make sure to have a table near the sea.
The Berjaya is one of the best choices in Langkawi, not the most luxury resort but great location and views. It is a big resort so not much of a personal service here.
Overall great place to relax/

Room Tip: try to get a premier chalet

The resort is extreme big, that is the only problem with this.
If you need a quick room service or a shuttle, it takes time.
On the other hand the room (we reserved see view chalet) was very big, very comfortable and very clean. The main restaurant is planned for hundreds of guests at the same time, therefore this is not a small boutique style luxury restaurant.
The food was o.k..
The Thai restaurant (RESERVATION is a MUST) is excellent, strongly recommend!

Room Tip: Choose see view rooms!

Costly resort. Plus points are the beach, location and swimming pool. Minus points are shuttle service, rimba sports bar, library, house keeping.
over all kids enjoy pool, beach and monkey club. But for monkey club they have a very unique rule only 4 hrs per day per room is allowed after that its chargeable. Never seen such a rule in any Taj or Oberoi resorts. Considering the price we paid i still feel that in terms of quality of service and hospitality they are years behind Taj Hotels. Should have stayed in Taj as there in last 10 years we have never found any complaint and if there is any concern they make sure its never repeated.
Berjaya was full of middle eastern guests and we found that the staff was biased towards them which is not good attitude. hopefully they read this review and learn from their mistakes.

Room Tip: Chalet 5117/5118 does not have inroom safe and the doors between the two chalet rooms do not close as they are swollen. try taking the rooms near the lobby for both sea and forest view.
