Great place to stay In a great location. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of things to do onsite and easy access to outside attractions. The restaurants are all quite nice, but the Thai restaurant had to be the best of them all. Rooms were really nice and the shuttle bus service was definitely a winner. Thank you for a wonderful trip Berjaya!

This resort is in a fabulous location in Langkawi. The resort, itself, is fabulous. There is a central area around the lobby with numerous restaurants, shops, coffee lounges, games and swimming pools.

Accommodation is in chalets of different sizes, built on pylons, either along the sea front over the sea or scattered through the rain forest. The resort covers a wide area. The chalets are well appointed and extremely comfortable. Getting around the resort is via shuttle busses, running continuously. You never wait long for a shuttle. These are motorized rather than electric in this eco-friendly resort. Monkeys, squirrels and hornbills are visible signs of wild life here.

Numerous restaurants catering to numerous different tastes - Thai, Italian, European, Asian. The food is a bit below the resort's 4* rating but the buffet breakfast is large and lovely, catering for all tastes. Early Dining discounts of 20%

Music in the lobby bar every evening.

Swimming in the large pool with swim-up bar and in the sea is refreshing. Many activities on land or sea available.

The resort is clean and people extremely friendly though the service in some of the restaurants was sometimes slow

Definitely an enjoyable experience overall. I would go back.

My family and I stayed for three nights over New Year's Eve. We booked a Rainforest Chalet and a Premium Sea View. The Rainforest Chalet had been upgraded while the other was in need of some refurbishing, but all in all, both rooms were nice and comfortable. You cannot beat the setting of this hotel. Pictures do not do justice to its location of being nestled between the rainforest and the ocean. I would wake up every morning and just stare in awe at the view from my balcony (we had a partial sea view and rainforest view). In my personal opinion, I wouldn't pay more money for a chalet that sits over the water because you would miss having both views and the opportunity to see monkeys from your balcony.

I wouldn't, however, recommend this hotel for New Year's Eve nor for its customer service. At 250 USD a person to attend the Gala (you had no choice, it was included in the room rate), I expected to be blown away. Yes, it rained earlier, and that was out of their control. But the contingency plan was non-existent, it seemed like. We were herded into the non-descript ballroom waiting for drinks (I ended up going to get them myself...and waiting in a line that wrapped around the room) and the festivities to start. Families were fighting for tables in the outdoor seating area, nobody knew what was going on, total chaos. Needless to say, we were irate at the thought at how much we had to pay for this disaster. To top it off, breakfast was not included in one of our room rates, so when my sister politely complained about the Gala's disappointment and how my parents weren't able to eat, they gave her vouchers for ONE morning and said she could speak to the manager if she wanted. (She didn't).

This would have been a great stay had it not been for how the management handled the New Year's Eve gala and their response to our complaints.

Dear valued guest,
Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us. It was unfortunate that it rained on our New Year Eve Gala dinner plans. The light drizzle in the early hours of the evening gave us hope that it may pass over but the weather turned for the worst later on. This was the main reason for the delay in our decision to move to Plan B. As much effort had been put in the preparation and wanting the best for all guests, the decision to move at the later hour contributed to the chaos at the alternative dining venues. I accept your point that it could have been better planned. We will certainly learn from the experience and not repeat the same mistakes again. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused and for the poor response to your grievances.

With my best regards

We stayed here for a quick break after our wedding. We stayed in a seaview chalet (not quite on the water, but right near the coast with a clear view).

The room appeared to be newly remodeled and was well appointed. The chalet was quiet and my Wife and I had a great time sipping wine, relaxing on the patio facing the water.

The resort itself is quite large, requiring a shuttle to head to and from the main resort area, although one could walk in about 10 minutes. The shuttle was the only real minus of this place.

The pool was great, large and there was a swim-up bar at one end. One slight negative here was that the pool officially closes at 8:30 PM, at which point they noted they start dumping chemicals to clean the water and one is to swim at ones own risk.

Food at the resort was good, although we only ate at the main restaurant in the lobby. We noticed that there was live music at the bar in the lobby, with cover bands playing American classics.

Service of the staff was good, although we found the attendants at the restaurants to be a bit leisurely and would take a while to get the check.

Room Tip: Opt for one with an unobstructed view. We noticed that even some chalets right on the water had view...

Berjaya Langkawi - a family friendly favourite!

My wife and I spent two weeks at the Berjaya over Christmas in 2012 with our 15 month old son and and we just loved it. The main attraction of the Berjaya was the opportunity to stay in a chalet which was surrounded by rainforest and natural wildlife. This aspect of the stay did not disappoint. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the more remote chalets and sightings of monkeys, hornbills and flying leemas were a regular occurrence.... even at breakfast! We found all of the staff ever so friendly and welcoming. Service was always delivered with a smile.

This was a truly welcoming resort for families. Our room was even had a welcome pack of mini baby toiletries placed on (the very comfortable mattress) in our young son's cot! Aside from that there was so much to do in the resort including free wildlife walks at day and night.

The ambience of the Bejaya's Thai Restaurant, offering sunset views was an added bonus, as was the proximity of the resort to the Oriental Village which offers truly scrumptious and cheap local dishes. The eateries within the resort are reasonably priced, particularly if you dine early since a 20% discount is applied to your bill!

Without wishing to gripe, as we had such a great time, we had one or two observations on how things could be improved. Firstly, the cocktails are made with cordials and juice drinks and without fresh ingredients. A mohjito without fresh mint and limes is just not a mohjito! Secondly, if you have small children, note that the chalets contain one or two hazards such as absolutely piping hot water and balcony fencing which a fifteen month old can merrily squeeze through. Thirdly, the pool area is awesome but the beach is a bit sterile by Langkawi standards...it is not a patch on Datai bay or the north eastern beach areas.

But the acid test is this: would we go back? The answer.....we are already booking up for next year to get the pick of the chalets! So this Resort was a hit for us and mainly because it was very family orientated.

We stayed for six nights and could have stayed longer. Set out of chalets was spacious and private through out resort. Transportation around resort was great. We were upgraded to premier on land chalet which was lovely. Beach was clean and plenty of sun lounges however not all had shade. New years Eve gala dinner was fantastic with a fireworks display which was amazing. Restauants were lovely but bookings essential during busy periods. Would definitely stay at the resort again!

We were staying in a rain forest chalet - great to be staying in a little chalet in the middle of the rainforest- watch out for cheeky monkeys jumping into the room!

The beach is nice and clean with lots of loungers.

We stayed over the Christmas period and it was very busy. We found that the staff could have been friendlier and more welcoming.. We would recommend the Beach restaurant for breakfast for a lovely view.
