I always think these reviews can be very subjective. If you are looking into this complex thinking its going to be like the Maldives then look away now.
Firstly based on the price we paid for this I was very very happy. Right from the start Langkawi is so easy to enter, no queues at customs, taxi to the resort takes 20 minutes and you dont get ripped off by the cab drivers.
Upon arrival there we no queues and we made our way straight to our chalet as it was 10pm. You do have to get a shuttle to your room, so again if your the sort of person that gets very complacent about the smallest detail then you might get annoyed. The flip side to this is all of the chalets are spread far apart so the rooms are very peaceful and secluded. We opted for the Rainforest, which if we went back we would do again as they are more secluded.
The layout of the resort is also very tastefully done, it integrates extremely well with its surroundings, if you are the sort of person that like to take the environmental consideration into account.
The first day we headed straight to the marine park to do some scuba dives then headed back to the resort for happy hour :o). Happy hour in the sunken pool bar was enjoyable, cocktails were a little on the weak side, but most of the time if you prompted the bar men they would adjust the mixtures for you. We then headed for dinner out at the Thai restaurant which sits out on the water. Ambience was great, service was great and food was pretty good, again if your expecting a michelin star experience this isnt for you but the price tag justified it, I think with starters, mains, couples of beers and wines, desert and liquers it came to about $80SGD.
Last day was spent on the beach. What I love about the resort is the choice between the pool and the beach. We spent the day on the beach which was great. The staff were very attentive and were checking up on us. They had a great range of very affordable watersports.
I really couldn't make many suggestions to make this place any better apart from maybe the buffet breakfast, it wasnt really continental however it was only around $10.
I will be returning without a shadow of a doubt. This place I think would rate in my top 3 asia getaways from Singapore, part of that is due to accessibility and ease of entry to it.
Highly rated !

Room Tip: If you are getting a rainforest chalet opt for a room with a garden view, some of the views are onto...

We had two stays at Berjaya Langkawi in March 2012. The first stay was only for a night and we booked a Rainforest room. The room was quite comfortable but a long way from reception/restaurants etc. However, we had no difficulty getting a buggy ride to reception whenever we needed it.
For our second stay we booked a Premier Chalet and were really impressed with this accommodation. There were great views of the sea and we were much nearer to the main areas of the hotel. One of the reasons we booked Berjaya was its proximity to wildlife - monkeys, colugos etc - and we were not disappointed. On several occasions we observed macaques and dusky leaf monkeys playing and on one occasion sleeping, in the trees just beside our balcony! I would highly recommend the beachside restaurant. It was not inexpensive but we thought the food was well worth it. Very friendly service with effeciency varied but on the whole good. The food at the Chinese restaurant was quite good and the service there was excellent.
On the whole our experience of service at the Berjaya was that it was first-class. It is true we were not there during the peak tourist season. Nevertheless we always found the staff enthusiastic, polite and generally efficient. Here I must make specific mention of two members of staff who were most helpful to me when I experienced a problem with mislaid personal property. Concierge Mohammed Yunus and Duty Manager Joyce, were both understanding and most helpful in this situation and I cannot thank them enough.
On a previous visit to Langkawi we stayed at another resort and while we did enjoy that experience, our stay at Berjaya certainly outranked it.

Stayed at Berjaya Langkawi Resort for 3 Nights and 4 days. Had a very comfortable stay. Had booked a Rain Forest chalet. The front office staff were kind enough to allow us to view 3 other rooms which had a sea view(Sea View Chalet) at an extra charge. We upgraded ourselves to a Sea View chalet close to the Beach Restaurant. Most of the Chalets are a little away from the reception lobby, hence you will have to depend on the hotel shuttle or talk a walk. The shuttle pick up is fast hence it should not be a major issue. The room had a cozy feeling. Not big in size but was more than sufficient to accomodate 2 adults and a child. The hotel has a shuttle service, which picks and drops us at various places within the resort and also to the Oriental Village ie., the place from where the cable car starts. The chalets on the water have amazing views, but are expensive. Food was great at all the 4 restaurants. Do not miss the Phan Thai Floating restaurant for its superb and yummy thai food and also the romantic sunset dinner. Amazing sunset view one should not miss this after staying at Berjaya. The hotel also has some activities for kids. There is a small outdoor play area and also an indoor activity area(Kids Club). There is also a kids pool and a jaccuzi. Beach is good. Taxi's are available from the hotel to go to various places.. Rates are fixed across Langkawi. Quite reasonable. On the whole had a very comfortable stay. Friendly hotel staff.

Room Tip: Sea view chalet 2114 is the closest to sea, pool and restaurants.

My husband and I stayed at the Berjaya for 10 nights on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it!

We booked a Rainforest Studio and were upgraded to a Premiere Rainforest Chalet. This was wonderful as we were closer to the water (great view) and we received access to breakfast at the Beach Front Restaurant. Wow what a view to sit down to every morning! This was our favourite restaurant and wait staff here were very professional, friendly and attentive. I found the staff were not as good at the Dayang Cafe (an alternative restaurant).

We loved being right in the jungle, surrounded by rainforest and wildlife. The resort is perfect for relaxation (beach, pool, restaurants, cocktails, day spa) but also has a good range of daily activities, access to adventure tours, and is close to some tourist attractions. The Oriental Villiage and Cable Car are walkable (10 mins) or you can catch a hotel shuttle there for free.

We will highly recommended this resort to our friends and family. In fact, a friend of ours has already booked a stay here next year!

Pro's
- Neat, clean, spacious rooms.
- Chalets are private and most stand separately (ie: not connected to another room)
- Free wi-fi in room, which was also accessible around the resort. Even at the beach!
- Private beach
- Well maintained garden and clean resort areas
- Plenty of wildlife right outside your door!
- Swim up pool bar!
- Great food served at restaurants
- Plenty of variety at breakfast venues

Con's
- Waiting for a shuttle (around 5-7 mins when busy). We walked mostly though as our chalet wasn't too far from the lobby. About a 5 min walk anyway.
- Wi-fi required us to frequently re-login
- The 17yr old resort has had to deal with constant attack from the harsh elements. As a result some of the planking/decking is a bit rough, rotten or patched up around the place. Not in the rooms or on balconies, only around the resort. This didn't impact on our stay what-so-ever, just more of an aesthetic thing. I would not be put off by this.
- No Sauvingon Blanc option on the wine list (hehe)

Room Tip: Premiere Rainforest Chalets are larger and best for longer stays.

My friend and I had a rainy holiday here but managed to have a great time! The rooms were amazing and loved our balcony over the water. The Thai restaurant was tasty, but it got a little bit old calling for the shuttle. For this kind of resort, I really expect five-start service and got just so-so service. Wi-fi was good, and so was the massage! Highly recommend. I was bummed that we couldn't rent motorbikes as we needed special "licenses" but in Pentai Cenang I've rented before. The private beach is quite nice out front as well. I might go with a smaller resort next time, but this was a good time.

We stayed for 4N in this resort on our family trip to Langkawi...
The rainforest chalet we had was newly furnished and totally gorgeous....Though the room was not that big, it was just nice for our small family of 3.... very warm and cosy..... There was also a balcony.....The best part, it was a stand-alone chalet..... not a duplex or such.... We had great privacy...
There were some activities planned by the resort, but due to time constraint, we only managed to join in the mangrove swamp tour.... It was really an eye-opening experience.... the guide was fantastic....
This is a resort really close to nature.... We managed to spot monkeys on several occasions, just outside our resort.... No wonder there was a note warning us to keep the balcony doors locked at all times...
I love that the resort was within walking distance to Oriental Village and there was a buggy ride provided by the resort to go there.... Normally we took the buggy there and then walked back...
I would have rated it a 5 out of 5, if not for a minor hiccup on our final day..... We had to go real early to the airport as it was a morning flight.... so far, the buggy service always arrive in minutes... but on the day we needed it to be punctual, we had to wait for more than 20 mins for it....Luckily we managed to be in time for our flight....

Room Tip: If you want privacy, be sure to request for a stand-alone chalet, as some of the chalets might be si...
