This was not our first choice for hotel, but we had to stay here because it waws busy in December.

im a huge hotel snob and i looove staying in luxury.
I have never been to a more magical or beautiful place.

Firstly - there are cheap rooms, then nicer rooms called chalets, then water chalets.
We stayed in chalet #1264 - what an awesome awesome room. so tranqil. I wish we could have afforded a water chalet, but our room was amazing with private sundeck too. bathroom was huuuuge and clean. i saw the cheaper rooms, but its definately worth it to upgrade.

Check in was a little slow but there are SOOOO many rooms you cant blame them and they are on an island so prepare for everything to be slow. i would stay there again. was sooo nice.
also because there are so many rooms, you have to rely on the minibus, which is pretty fast and you dont wait long at all!

dont listen to the bad reviews, every hotels bound to have a crack in the bathtub, ours didnt, but its no big deal. our shower could have fit 10 people in it - literally..

also, just to see what i was missing out on i visited the other hotels, none were like this. its set in the middle of a jungle type atmosphere. truly amazing.
the beach is gorgeous and safe and known for being one of the best beaches in langkawi.

also i went to snoop on the andaman and the datai -to see what we were missing-- they were on top of a mountain and took ages to get there. i thought the berjaya was better.

upgrade your room and its still not that expensive cos langkawi can be, its a great hotel.

If you have not selected the lowest category of rooms (which are not well maintained), the 72 acres of property is surely going to impress you with its calm, serene and yet so embracing environment. If oyu are an Indian, try the Indian food at the Beach Restaurant prepared by a Pak Chef.

We were at the Berjaya Langkawi in January for 4 nights and wished we had time to stay longer. We stayed at one of the Premier Chalets on Water and we were very satisfied with what was being offered to us.

The chalet is huge by normal standard, built on stilts with the sea right beneath us. Although its exterior is made of wood to give it a rustic, village, traditional Malay-look and feel, the interior is of brick and the all-white tiles on the floor gave the chalet a very cooling effect. Despite the provision of air-condition in the chalet, most of the time, we open the sliding doors and windows to enjoy the sea breeze and to listen to the sounds of the sea. There is also a ceiling fan which we sometimes use when the afternoon air got a bit still.

The bathroom is also huge and has both a bath tub and a shower cubicle. Toiletries are of good quality and were given abundantly on a daily basis. The housekeeping was done twice per day and each evening, we were given local sweets or imported chocolates to savour before we retire for the night. The orchids left on our pillows add a nice, friendly touch to our stay.

Besides the plus points of the chalet itself, we also find the staffs to be very friendly and polite. The buffet breakfast provided at the restaurant is of a very wide variety and a good mix of local and western. We were really spoilt for choices during breakfast time.

We think the chalets on water are ideal for a romantic stay for couples as you are away from other people and you have all the privacy that you need. Although the chalets are located about 20-minute walk from the lobby, the shuttle service provided is very efficient and would normally arrive within 5 minutes from the time we requested for it.

There is not anything about the hotel which we do not like. Besides the sea, there are so many well-protected and cared for trees around the hotel’s compound. Perhaps the only suggestion we have for the betterment of the hotel is for them to change the shuttle buses to electronically-empowered buggies. That would do a whole good for the environment in the long run.

The beach of the hotel is fun to be at as the water is calm and you can really soak yourself and swim without any fear of jelly fishes. However, we went further up along the beach towards the rocks and behind those rocks, we found a hidden paradise of a beautiful bay where the water is so calm and the surroundings is so tranquil that you can find so many fishes and crabs. Also, the sunset from this bay is fantastic !!

Business brought me to this wonderful resort. The location of this property is breath-taking. The individual huts are secluded. The green water of the Indian Ocean is beautifully inviting. I loved it...most tropical setting I can remember.

My wife and stayed four nights at the resort just after Christmasand everything exceeded our expectations. We have travelled the world and stayed at many, many hotels but this was the best ever. The chalet was superb, the resort first class, the food brilliant and the staff very friendly and helpful. Quite annoying not to find anything to have a good moan about. What was particularly impressive was the efficiency of the shuttle service which whisked us back and forth from our chalet in the jungle. We never once waited more than 30 seconds for a ride.
