“must visit if you go to langkavi”

This is actually a mini zoo not just a birds paradise. first attraction is in the entrance taking souvenir pics with birds on your shoulder, hands ..etc.if you dont want to buy just dont buy since it cost 40 RM which is little high. then you can see birds in cages and free. if you want you can feed birds with their birds food. there are some animals such as well. to see the whole place takes about 1 to 2 hours. if you go with children they will enjoy this for sure.

“Amazing but not quite impressive.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

The Bird Paradise Wildlife Park as it’s now called, is another one of those must see places in Langkawi, Malaysia. Opened in 2002, this is a five acre park along Jalan Ayer Hangat just ten minutes away by road transport from the town of Kuah. It is touted as the first fully covered wildlife park in Asia.

Entrance fee is ( Malaysian Ringgit ) RM28 for adult tourists, and RM12 if you have a Mycard. At the entrance, they will try to take your picture with some parrot on your hand and this will set you back another RM35. Just inside the entrance is another stall selling small packets of food that you can use to feed the birds.

The park features more than 2,500 birds from 150 exotic bird species, from parakeets to macaws, flamingos, ducks, bird of Paradise to raptors, and they also have other animals like ostriches, rabbits, donkeys, mouse deers, etc. Our favorites must be the collection of colorful pheasants, Brahminy Kite and the White Bellied Sea eagles. It was strange to see the Kite and Eagle in captivity as we usually see them as they soar in the skies high above us in Langkawi!
There’s a walk-in aviary, a 15 meter tall man made waterfall, and several ponds. In one of the ponds, I was awed to set sight on the largest and longest arowanas I have ever come across! There were a couple of specimens easily over four feet long!

The complex has souvenir stores selling all manner of bird-themed items and a store that displays rare, raw and crafted crystals from Brazil and China. Also near the entrance of the park is a restaurant serving snacks and full meals, a duty free shop selling a wide range of items.
Toilets are before the main entrance.
Even if you don’t fancy much for birds, this is a place that is worth a visit simply to have an experience of seeing a wide variety of birds in one place. The displays can be very much improved. There’s even double wire fencing on some which is not attractive or helpful in providing a display!

Opening hours are from 8.30 am to 6 pm.

“Interact with animals here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

We were a group of 4 adults visiting in early January. It was quiet, probably because it was after the school holidays. All the staff were very friendly and asked for feed back during our visit. For RM10 you can purchase some food that you can feed the animals with on your visit. This activity of feeding the animals is the highlight of the visit, especially for small children although the 4 of us adults throughly enjoyed interacting with the animals ourselves. There are not many larger animals and the park is small so you won't spend long here.

“Good to visit with children”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

It's more appropriate to call this place as Mini Zoo instead of wildlife park or even bird paradise. But if you go with smaller children this would be a good place to bring them.
Overall with the ticket price they charged it's a bit overpriced.

“Tremendously improved and definitely on the 'to do' list with younger kids.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

Greatly improved and a lot of effort has been put into this place to make it an enjoyable and educational place to visit. The animals are well cared for, clean and mostly have a good place to roam. The aviary areas are wonderful to see birds and nature up close. The rabbit area is fabulous for younger kids. The ostriches still look sad so avoid walking past. If you don't like zoos don't go at all but whether or not this is under new management / ownership they have done a great job so far!!
