Went for island hopping on 14th jul.the tour was booked through travel agent which i bought the 3d2n package in matta fair.in summary, i would divide the trip for 2 portion. 1. The sight seeing, 2. The service. The sight seeing were good comprises 3 location i.e. Dayang Bunting, Eagle island and Beras Basah Island. All this places offer good experience, dayang bunting lake offer collapse cave phenomena turns into fresh water lake.eagle island, location where eagles flying around above the sea looking for fish and beras basah island place of crystal like water and fine white sand beach. On the service part it is lacking at, I am very dissapointed with the boat driver. He shows lack of respect to the tourist. As the boat driver aka tourist guide he should explain a little bit on the history of the location so it look more interesting but to my surprise he did not know anything about the place. During visit to dayang bunting lake, we were given approximately 1 hr to enjoy the lake. 20 minutes were spent just to climb up and down the hill and 40 short minutes to enjoy and swimming in the lake. When arrive to the jetty we was 10 minutes behind schedule, as my parents had to walk slowly due to knee sprain, i notice the boat driver is yelling to someone which i believe to me, but i am not offended. To my surprise, while aboard the boat he somewhat ask a cynical question i.e. "tiada jam ke??" or "dont u have a watch??" to my father. The trip like this should be enjoyable and not be stressful by time constraint. This kind of attitude is not good to tourism industry. No matter what he should have been polite, customer always right, right?

We paid RM30 per person at our hotel but later found out that the same tour cost RM25 if we book from any one of the many tour offices along the beach & all over Langkawi. So, the prices varies depending on where your book (commissions) & your tour boat size.
There are 2 schedules; morning & afternoon.

We took the afternoon tour, a mini van picked us up at the hotel & took us to Porto Malai Jetty, make sure you have your booking/ paid receipts with you as they will ask for it.
You will be given a tour sticker to place on your shirt. We waited with hundreds other tourist for our boats for about 20 minutes, which was so inefficient & disorganized. Some tours are in big boats with more than 20 or 30 tourists, ours was just 8 of us in 1 boat. They took us to hop to the 1st island; Pulau Dayang Bunting, where we were given an hour to explore the island on our own. You can also swim in the lagendary Dayang Bunting Lake. It was nice really refreshing on the super hot & humid day. The lake is 10 meters deep (no shallow part), make sure you know how to swim or can also just dip your feet. The water was nice & cool. Its advisable that you bring a towel & already wearing your swimming suit from the start of the tour as there is no changing rooms there & you only have an hour.

Then all the hundreds of tourist gather again at the Dayang Bunting Island Jetty to go to the next island; Pulau Singa Besar, for the eagle feeding. You just stay in the boat & watch the eagles feeding for about 20 minutes. There were many eagles but they boatman said in the morning there are 300 - 400 eagles come to be fed there.

The last island was Pulau Beras Basah, where you are given an hour free & easy, you can swim & picnic at the beach there, advisable to bring your own food & beach blanket. Nice beach, clear blue water but too many tourist, so we just sit & rest under the trees which was nice & breezy. We then board the boat to go back to Porto Malai Jetty where our van waited to take us back to the hotel.

In total the tour was about 3.5 hours including the van ride. However, it was advertised as 4 hour tour, so that's misleading. The tour operator can also be more organized & efficient if they properly schedule the tours at different hours instead of everyone start & finish at the same time which results in crowded the jetties & beach/lake. It would just be better & nicer experience.
I think its worth the RM30 for the islands your visit on this tour, however tourist can better enjoy the experience if it is better organized.

I am not that much a tour guy, as i do like to travel by myself finding my own ways and getting to do things like and how and i want. Island hoping, really changed my perception on tours. I'd day go ahead, and make the best of it.

The tour covers three islands and it is really a hoping tour.

Kick starts from the dock usually they have a pickup shuttle which picks you up from the hotel, i was staying near pantai cenang during my stay, again i would recommend this place for accomodation as well. The shuttle takes you to the jetty were a fast boat keeps waiting, a quick photograph before you jump onboard and fasten the life jacket.

The first stop : Daya Bunting Marble (Geoforest Park) Pitstop:1hr

Literal translation "Island of the Pregnant Maiden" apart from its fairy tales is a stunning marvel of nature where the environment has been preserved and untouched by technology. A brisk walk up the fleet of steps and over a small hill and down the other side takes you to a beautiful natural lake. The lake was once a limestone cave which once collapsed to form this beautiful lake between the mountains. There are a lot of souvenir shops to grab your memory stones. There are also life jackets, food and water available here. One can plunge into the icy cold waters and do a good swim, or grab the life jackets and float around. There are designated areas where you can do a catfish spa for your legs as well. For those who don't want to get wet you could opt for one of the paddle boats or bask in the sun along the wooden planks. It can get too comfy that you might want to spend the rest of the day over there itself. Do keep in mind you would need to trek back the same route you came to the lake to get back to the boat.

Things to be aware of over here: The lake has catfishes which are harmless but yea i feel its a bit creepy. Beware of the monkeys, they can be a thing or two and they are wild i would recommend, don't even go close to them.

Second Stop: Pulau Singa Besar (Eagle Feeding) Pitstop:15 - 20mts
Literal Translation "Big lion island"- This is where you get to have a face to face meeting with the king of the skies: the eagles. We do remain in the boat but you can see 50 - 60 eagles trying to grab fishes from the river. Its quite safe but you can see the action up close. I did manage to see a kingfisher trying its luck too.

Third Stop:Beras Basah Island (Party Place) Pitstop:1hr
Literal Translation "Wet Rice Island" aka "My Party place". 1hr white beac, a shop which sells beer, snacks, shacks to sit in Tyre swings, banana boats, speed boats the perfect spot to laze, relax and soak in the sun. Jump in the beach play around with friend or go on a walk along the old pier.

I would recommend this tour anytime to anyone visiting Langkawi. It is also a photographers paradise.
