We started our weekend in Blue Ginger in Bon Ton, what a great little Malay house, lots of charm and character, although i am 6ft 5 and it was just a little small, however we asked the next day whether they had any rooms available that were a little different as no room is the same and thus we always intended to sample the hotel. We moved 100 metres up the road to Colinial House 3 which was epic, truly colonial and much more suited for the taller person, double baths and showers....very comfortable and the mozzies didnt like us as much up there.

The management were lovely, very attentive, perhaps too much but on reflection really made you feel welcome and they were always ensuring we were well watered and fed. The food....wow....seriously good, very impressed and a strong wine list!!

Living in Singpaore you know that Malaysia is not cheap, if you are booking from Europe beware Langkawi is not your cheap holiday destination, taxis are comparable to Singapore, Wine as expensive if not more than the UK.......but a great island to chill out on and explore away from the hustle and bustle of Bali, it is just a little more rustic and rough around the edges.

I would definitely go back here, i would spend a tiny bit more and book the Black & White house at Temple Tree this time.

Onyl thing to note - there are a lot of cats around, so if allergic dont go there, otherwise they are very sweet and provide an endearing relaxed addition to the hotel.

It was our first time in Langkawi, Malaysia, and we could not have chosen a more beautiful and laid-back resort. Temple Tree's estates have been beautifully restored and we were transported back to colonial times. Great attention to detail in many ways!

It boasts a top-quality restaurant with friendly staff. We enjoyed taking a dip every morning in the lap pool with the mountains as a backdrop...picture perfect!

Special thanks to Manager Dennis and the rest of the service staff who went out of their way to make our short stay so very special. We miss all of our furry lil' visitors...Thank you for the lovely memories!

I just finished a four night stay at the Temple Tree Resort - fantastic little boutique hotel loaded with charm. The rooms are beautifully decorated and loaded with quirky knick knacks. Denis, the manager, was great and bent over backwards to ensure my stay was perfect. In fact all the staff were wonderful - very friendly, helpful and attentive. It's a little off the main Pantai Cenang strip which ensures it's quiet and peaceful, but if you feel like going out for a bite to eat or a drink everything is only an 8-10 Ringgit taxi ride away. The Bon Ton Resort is right next door and the restaurant there (Nam) is one of the best. Can't recommend the Temple Tree enough.

Absolutely wonderful. We stayed here for 3 nights in early September. We were in Colonial 1, which was in the green Colonial house. The room was really cool, and it was nice to have the big open common space at the front of the house. Amenities were top notch and the bathroom was huge. We also had a little courtyard out back with a wooden bath tub.

The staff at both Temple Tree and Bon Ton were great. We spent most of our time at Temple Tree, but went over to Bon Ton (just a few minutes walk) a few times, most notably for the 9-course Malay Dinner. Temple Tree's restaurant has great food as well.

It was great to just have drinks or hang out at the Straits Club, the main house at Temple Tree. And the pool at the back is great, particularly at sunset.

And we can't forget the cats! Both hotels are part of an animal rescue project, so there are quite a few cats roaming the grounds. You'll probably notice a couple that like your particular house. We made friends with a few of the cats, but they didn't annoy house or meow at our door or anything. They did like a good cuddle though. They're very clean and cute. Also, whenever we went swimming, we drew quite the cat crowd! We also took one of the dogs for a walk. The dogs don't roam free though, they're all at the shelter.

One of the best places we've ever stayed. We hardly left the grounds.

This place feels very different from your standard tropical island resort and in a good way. You can feel your blood pressure drop from the moment you arrive. Each room is unique and furnished in a tasteful but practical way with all kinds of nick-nacks and antiques.

We stayed 6 nights in Colonial 4 with our 7 and 5 year old. Colonial 4 is great for families as there is plenty of space to spread out. Our kids loved the wooden bath.

The big pool was great for the kids (and adults) so we did not miss having direct access to the beach. The Straits Club does very good meals, snacks and drinks. You are also a short walk from Nam restaurant at Bon Ton next door which is a bonus.

The staff deserve a special mention. They are a very thoughtful, helpful and attentive bunch.

We stayed at Bon Ton 3 years ago and we honestly could not pick which resort we liked better. You can not go wrong with either which is lucky for us as we are already planning our next visit.

It was everything that we had expected and more besides - this is truly the best hotel in Langkawi and probably still quite a well-kept secret. In fact, it is not like staying in a hotel at all, but a friend's very luxurious and beautiful estate. Temple Tree is part of the Bon Ton resort - but IMO better - it is more secluded, the staff are better than any hotel staff in the world I have come across, and once we walked in it was as if we had been there forever - you are made to feel like long lost friends come home. Dennis the new manager is a true gem and worth his weight in gold, as are the other staff there. The cats and dogs are just an added bonus to us, as we love them both, including our resident cat who we named Mosquito! You can use the facilities at Bon Ton too, the Nam restaurant there is a must-go, as are drinks and the burger at Temple Tree.

If you enjoy the company of cats and dogs this is the perfect place to relax.

Thank you Temple Tree and Bon Ton and hopefully we will see you again.

Though classified as B&B/Inn, Temple Tree is actually more of a boutique resort of many cultures, an eclectic mix of heritage chic...Antique buildings of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian origin, make up this 8 villa hotel, with 8 rooms & 6 suites now open.
