We stayed here for two nights as part of a backpacking trip across Malaysia. The location is off the beaten track, though you can reach the beach in under ten minutes through a muddy path alongside the river. Walking into Pantai Cenang's main stretch of restaurants etc took about twenty minutes. For us, it was one of the more expensive rooms we have stayed in, which may be characteristic of Langkawi but the price did not reflect the room in our opinion. Although it was spacious, the air con and fan were noisy and the beds were the least comfortable we have slept in - the double was two single beds that had been nailed together or something. The shower room also meant the entire bathroom got went when you took a wash. We have spent on average RM80 per room and in many cases beds have been super comfy and showers great.
Our main issue were the arrogant and loud guests two doors down who insisted on being noisy from 3.30am onwards until about 6, sitting outside shouting and giggling when their room was two steps away. It took us shouting at them to get them to go in and shut up, as apparently asking politely got no reaction whatsoever.
For myself, I felt slightly unsafe at the Bay as rooms went directly outdoors and I would not attempt to walk back to the hotel at night from cenang, but this isn't really the resorts fault.
The family that run the bay were lovely, and we appreciated the breakfast as well as the laundry service. If their car hire was slightly cheaper we would have definitely used them for this too!
