1 piece of Mantis prawn costs RM52.50, argue with the rude waitress, she only said "you eat already.. "

at the bill, they wrote 350g, ridiculous!

“What a terrible restaurant, you need to be starving and near death before you enter this place.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2012

Oh dear, we were tired after a long day on our motorbike, we returned to the Sheraton and walked down the hill to Kitta for a nice evening meal. That was our first mistake! We usually check Trip Advisor, (TA) we didn't this time - we were tired. That was our second mistake. We were met by Alvin, (the manager) who led us to a table. There were about 30 tables and only 0ne was occupied, that should have been a clue! The beer was cheap, a plus. This was one night where for experienced travellers we did everything wrong. I wanted lobster, Kitta's supposed specialty, and they had two prices: one for live lobster and one for, as they put it, 'dead but fresh'. We ordered the 'dead but fresh ' lobster mainly because we still struggle with choosing a live animal knowing it's going to be killed just prior to eating it (another mistake). We asked what size the 'dead but fresh' lobster was and the waitress said between 800g and one kilo. We asked for the garlic lobster, then checked and discovered it was to be covered in sauce - we asked for this on the side. Thank goodness! As we were craving a nice fresh salad after 3 weeks of Malay, Chinese and Indian food from Melaka to Kota Kinabalu, Penang and KL, we specified a side salad with French fries. We naively thought that all of the items would arrive together. French fries arrived lukewarm, followed after 5 minutes with the salad: a Chinese cabbage and carrot concoction smothered liberally with a white congealed salad cream which we sent back and asked to have without the cream. At least 10 minutes later the lobster arrived looking magnificent with head and tail displayed as one would expect. To our surprise and incredible dismay, we lifted the tail to find approximately 200g of little battered chunks of something resembling seafood of some description but to this day, we aren't entirely sure that we were in fact having our lobster...we noticed the restaurant cat mascot had disappeared only moments before. As seasoned travellers and frequent visitors to restaurants around the world, we should have sent it back. We didn't. Battered or crumbed seafood world-over has a reasonably homogenous quality and lacks substantial taste and flavour but we now believe that the head and tail may have come from someone else's previous meal and been added to ours to indicate that it had been a whole lobster originally. Begrudgingly, we ate the meal and when presented with the bill, were told that our lobster had been a 1.2 kilo specimen! Our major mistake was not examining the lobster in advance and watching the weigh-in. For the massive bill (in Malaysia) of RM265 ($88) we felt cheated and foolish. We know that things can often be different and in fact desireably so, bu we don't expect to be police-ing restaurants to ensure that what we pay for is what we get.

“Simply rude”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2011

We had a reasonnable meal at the restaurant and tolerated the unfriendliness of the waitress when she realised that we weren't going to have seafood, we had to wait for our food for quite a while and she forgot the rice and we had to ask 3 times for it. Our children wanted to go back another time when the same waitress was simply rude ,when again we didn't order seafood, she proceeded to tell us that chicken was only for lunch!!!!
We simply got up and left and went to the lovely Shin Mi around across the road....If you would like a friendly Malaysian hospitality maybe give this one a miss.

“DO NOT ATTEMPT!!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2011

We went cos it was advertised on the map and thought it should be ok. Passed by Shim Mi and was quiet so decided to try Kitta instead.
We ordered BBQ fish and they gave us a fried fish! Steamed prawns turned to be boiled prawns with garlic sauce on it! The mantis wasn't fresh and tasted horrible! Vegetables nothing to scream about....my maid can do a better job!
And the bill....$316!!! That's freaking expensive for local standards especially when the food is so horrible. Luckily they forgot to charge us for the beers but beer isn't that pricey in Langkawi too.
Like the last person who commented...I also wished I had read about this but too late.
