“It can be better...”

I have to agree that room rate is over price at this level. You can find much better offer nearby. The room seems not properly taking care, not so clean, sliding door at toilet spoil, can not fully close.

I think it urgently need uplift.

Backpacking as a couple we stayed at the Cabin for 3 nights in early Jan 2012. We paid RM150 p/n for a double ensuite room with hot shower, a/c, fridge, wifi and TV. When we left, we felt that we'd paid over the odds for our room and were completely underwhelmed by our experience. For the first time in SEA we were taken in by the online marketing and we regretted it right away - it simply didn't live upto its spiel!

POSITIVE
Location - 100m walk to the beach and right on the main strip in Cenang.
Cleanliness - This place was thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis.
Comfort - it was comfortable, but we expected it to be given how much we paid for it!

NEGATIVES
Price - at RM150/US$48/£31 power night it was unquestionably the most we've spent anywhere in asia and we just did not get value for money. We had a look at a few other places in Cenang, and they offered similar services for far less - unfortunately we'd booked in advance so couldn't take advantage.

The niceties that you pay for are pointless. The fridge turns off when you're out of the room meaning that nothing stays cool. The TV is a 32"plasma screen but the management have not subscribed to any cable channels so there's very little to watch - we found 2 English channels worth watching. We haven't bothered to much with tv around asia but when you've paid for it you want it to be there!

Finally the wifi was intermittent in the room at best and most of the time didn't really work. Because there's not really a communal reception, it wasn't a case of moving closer to the router, it was either working or not.

Service - for the sort of money we paid we expected a 24hr reception, not one that closes at 8pm. In fact, the lack of a property reception in general was a real negative. There was a cabin that had someone in it for some parts of the day but it hardly had that hotel feel to it.

The service we received was actually quite poor. On one night, all of the staff had a party in the room next to us which went on until 2am, meaning we had no sleep. The walls are so thin and the staff must know this yet they were happy to keep all of their guests awake.

We first booked a room at the Cabin as the location is great at Pantai Cenang and were very impressed with the cleanliness of the facilities and room. We stayed in the Yellow Cabin which fit 4 people comfortably. The staff are easy-going and accommodating, attending to our requests to fix the heaters promptly. From the price of RM 150 per night per cabin we enjoyed staying there on a shoestring budget and will visit again because of the cleanliness and professional service!

At the Cabin you would usually have one neighbour and the walls are not entirely sound-proof.
However it is located almost at the end of the party-district of Cenang Beach so street traffic or drunkards were no nuisance.

love the room. now some did said its small.. hemm i don't think so. there is an ample space to place your luggage unless you bring super large bags. tv channels that worked was only the basic msia channels, radio channels, and abt a few others..(i.e. movie, axn, nat geo).
well maintained in and out d cabin. i love d hanging space in d cabin. the bathroom is large, a minor wear and tear issue... king size bed (actually 2 single bed arranged together) can fit 3 adult of medium size. the room is cleaned everyday..bed sheet and towels are changed everydear..wifi was relatively good... aircond is good..infact we felt cold at night.
just bring ur tea/coffe bags if possible the one with 3 in 1 (with sugar and creamer) as electric water boiler is provided.
oh yeah.. good parking space as well.
superb staff..very accommodating and understanding..we arrived after midnight due to delayed air asia flight and the staff still managed to let us check-in.
location is superb for eateries and shopping as its located at the cenang beach main road. beach is a 2 minutes walk.. ATM is located at the underwater world..next door location... near red tomato restaurant...
will definitely be back again...!!

Room Tip: ask for their new room...

In our trip to Malaysia, we knew we'd be spending most of the travel monies in KL..so the idea was to find something cost effective in Langkawi. Researching for weeks, we either found beach resorts that were really highly priced, or cheap motels that dint seem too good on cleanliness and coziness. And then we found 'The Cabin Resort!'. If you are the type who is likely to be spending most of your time exploring the beaches, restaurants etc.,and not shacked up in the pool of your beach resort, then this place is perfect. Its located 5 mins from the beach and close to many bars and restaurants. No pool, no restaurant, no hotel based activity - The Cabin only offers comfortable, cozy cabins with a very friendly & helpful staff and that's really what mattered to us. Thumbs up for this one.

Just came back from Langkawi after more than 10 years of absence, and me mates and I stayed at The Cabin. In summary, it was a really great place to bunk in, with no complains to speak of. As mentioned in prior reviews, the room we had had an Ikea-ish / simple designer feel to it. Comfortable, clean and even has an LCD TV with cable channels. What we liked was the mere fact it is conveniently located close to the airport (Pantai Cenang), and allows easy access to amenities such as cafes, massage parlors and duty free shops.

The only thing you may want to take note of is that since the cabins are constructed of what appears to be zinc / roof awnings, on a hot day, the room will feel severely heated. So take care to turn the air conditioner at full power, leave the room for a couple minutes, and it should be alright by then.

In summary, The Cabin is a lodge that offers reasonable comfort for a reasonable asking price. Nothing more, nothing less. Will consider returning again on my next trip.

PROS:

-clean and comfortable rooms
-located strategically near the airport and lots of amenities (no surprises since it's smack in the middle of a tourist hot spot)
-located just a few minutes walk away from Cenang beach

CONS:

-a spartan establishment with just the bare necessities (but no surprises for the asking price)
-gets massively hot due to the material used to construct the rooms, unless you leave the AC on all the time
